Revolutions are invariably complex and lengthy processes. In the case of Iran, with which there are some striking similarities, protests which began in 1976 only took their full effect three years later with the fall of the Pahlavi regime. There were numerous episodes of advance and retreat of the students’ movement, the petty bourgeoisie of the bazaar, the clerical establishment, the national minorities and the peasantry, before sustained mass strikes expelled the shah.

These struggles threw up a host of forms of social organisation including local committees and workplace groups, some taking on a proto-Soviet character before they were dispersed by the Ayatollah Khomeini’s offensive.

There will be similar episodes in Egypt, as a movement initially animated by democratic demands addresses the possibility of further radical change—a generalisation of struggle that addresses the inequalities of the Mubarak era, the ownership of societal resources including industry and the land, and the problem of power wielded by the state itself.

The entry of the workers gives cause to believe that the Egyptian Revolution is indeed “growing over” into a movement for wider and historic change—that a process of permanent revolution with global implications is under way.

Yes indeed. This disaster, will have "global implications".

Communists instigated the Iranian revolution and worked with the Islamists to achieve it. Once in power the Islamists executed ed, imprisoned and exiled thousands of communists.

The left does not intend to allow this to happen in Egypt. They aim to come out on top.

Iraqi Communists Generating Unrest to Ensure American Forces Quit Country

U.S. forces may win the war in Iraq, only to lose the peace to the country's communist party.

The Iraqi Communist Party is busily stirring up trouble, to both ensure that American forces leave the country and to position themselves in order to best exploit the resulting power vacuum.

Eight years after the U.S. invaded Iraq, the Iraqi people are waging a grassroots fight for democracy and an economy that works for them.

For the sixth week in a row, Iraqis demonstrated last Friday in Baghdad's Tahrir Square and around the country, demanding jobs, public services, worker rights, civil rights and liberties, and an end to corruption. It is an unprecedented development for Iraq.

Since February 25, thousands have marched and rallied in nearly every one of Iraq's 18 provinces.
According to the General Federation of Iraqi Workers, they have come out "to protest the failure of the Iraqi state to listen to the Iraqis' demands."

The protests have led to the resignations of two provincial governors, the mayor of Baghdad and other officials.

A newly emerging nationwide Democratic Current is at the heart of this movement. Leaders say it is an expression of wide sectors of grassroots Iraqi society, including people who are not members of any organized group.

Local committees are being formed around the country, and preparations are under way for a national conference to be held in the next month or two, to lay the basis for "a sustainable organization."

The Iraqi Communist Party is one of the key organizers of this movement... Raid Fahmi, a member of the ICP's leadership, said this "very diverse" mass movement opens a "very promising prospect" for his country.

At the local level, Fahmi noted, neighborhood "popular control" committees are being set up to monitor public services, investigate problems, meet with the authorities to get action, and supervise their actions.

"We believe these committees will have a very direct impact on the provision of services," he said.
This movement is also key to ending the U.S. occupation, Fahmi said.

A few weeks ago the government tried to evict the Communist Party and another party active in the protests from their Baghdad offices. The... effort backfired, generating considerable media coverage and popular support for the ICP. The government backed off, and the parties are expected to keep their offices.

Hints are being floated of keeping U.S. military forces in Iraq, at a string of U.S. bases around the country. Yet "very strong public opinion in Iraq will not accept foreign bases," Fahmi said. Mass political pressure will be needed to ensure an end to the U.S. occupation, he said.

Benjamin Barber - Gadaffi Shill Works With Obama Founded "Think Tank"

On February 22, 2011, self proclaimed "internationally renowned political theorist" and Distinguished Fellow at the policy center Demos, Benjamin Barber released a statement announcing his resignation from the governing board of the Gadaffi Foundation.

Barber announced his resignation from the Gadaffi International Charity and Development Foundation, headed by Libyan dictator Muammar Gadaffi's son Saif al-Qaddafi, in protest at the "country-wide repression of protesters by the most barbaric means, and the public declaration of the Foundation's honorary chairman, Saif Qadaffi, endorsing the repression and rationalizing the massacre of protesters".

While Muammar Qadaffi's brutal repression of rebel forces, may have been been too much for wee Benjamin to stomach , the "internationally renowned political theorist" had no problems taking Gadaffi's money when the dictator's habitual sadism was less well publicized .

Even while leaving his master's employ, Barber still had kind words to say about his former idol.

Remember, Gadhafi is no Mubarak or Bashar al-Assad, a second or third generation bureaucratic heir to once revolutionary dictatorships. He is a founding revolutionary cut from the same cloth as Nasser and Castro, and his revolutionary rhetoric, if seemingly incoherent and irrelevant to the modern world, is authentic, rooted in the (mostly) vanished world of colonialism, imperialism, socialism and people's democracy.

Barber worked with and for the Gadaffi clan for several years

In a Washington Post article in August 2007 "Gaddafi's Libya: An Ally for America?", Barber wrote;

Written off not long ago as an implacable despot, Gaddafi is a complex and adaptive thinker as well as an efficient, if laid-back, autocrat. Unlike almost any other Arab ruler, he has exhibited an extraordinary capacity to rethink his country's role in a changed and changing world.

I say this from experience. In several one-on-one conversations over the past year, Gaddafi repeatedly told me that Libya sought a genuine rapprochement with the United States ...

In all my public and private conversations with Gaddafi, including a roundtable moderated by David Frost and televised by BBC in March during which Gaddafi responded to unrehearsed questions, Gaddafi acknowledged his history of enmity with the West and did not deny Libya's erstwhile involvement in terrorism. But he spoke of a new chapter for Libya and backed it up with a commitment to societal change. He insisted that in the Libya that comes after him there would be no new Gaddafi but self-governance.

Barber was also among a small group of "democracy advocates and public intellectuals", including Joseph Nye, Anthony Giddens, Francis Fukuyama, and Robert Putnam, working under contract with the Monitor Group consulting firm to "interact with Col. Gaddafi on issues of democracy and civil society" and to help little Saif "implement democratic reforms and author a more representative constitution for Libya".

In other words, Barber was Col. Gadaffi's PR man - a paid "shill" for a proven terrorist and socialist dictator.

To be fair, Barber's loyalty to Gadaffi probably went beyond money. As a socialist himself, no doubt Barber really did believe he was advancing the radical cause by easing Gadaffi's relations with the U.S.

Benjamin Barber's affiliation to Demos are significant because the New York based "think tank" is an official partner of the notorious Washington DC based Institute for Policy Studies

Once described by security expert Brian Crozier as the "perfect intellectual front for Soviet activities which would be resisted if they were to originate openly from the KGB", I.P.S. has been strongly opposed to military action against Gadaffi's regime.

Demos, one of the nations premier leftist "think tanks" has close ties to Democratic Socialists of America, and, until the organization morphed into a vast array of semi-disguised clones, ACORN.

Interestingly Demos' founding 1999-2000 Board of Trustees, included an obscure Illinois State Senator named Barack Obama.

A few years later an equally obscure San Francisco communist radical named Van Jones would also join the Demos Board. Small world isn't it?

Despite being so horribly disappointed by comrade Qadaffi, Benjamin Barber hasn't given up on socialism.

Less than a month after pulling the plug on comrade Qadaffi, Barber spoke at Democratic Socialists of America's Left Forum 2011, at Pace University New York, on a panel entitled "The Future of American Liberalism?"

Barber's co-panelists were D.S.A. leaders Stanley Aronowitz and Glenn Beck's favorite "metamucil muncher" Frances Fox Piven.

Cuban Unionist Tours U.S. - Offers International Communist Labor Federation Support

According to the Communist Party USA's latest Peoples World , union workers at the Los Angeles Workers United hall, home of the Laundry, Distribution Centers and Skills and Manufacturing Workers, "listened with excitement" to an address by Gilda Chacon Bravo, a leader of the former Soviet front, and still communist controlled, World Federation of Trade Unions.

Chacon is the first Cuban trade union representative to be granted a visa to the United States in several years, and is touring the country.

WFTU has 70 million affiliated members, with 150 organizations in Latin America alone. The U.S. and Canada are the only countries in the Western Hemisphere that have no affiliates.

Said Chacon;

"One of the main objectives of our tour is to have an exchange on labor issues here, and introduce the federation to the North American labor movement so we can support and show solidarity with your struggles. What is happening in Wisconsin and other parts of your country are opportunities that the U.S. working class should not miss" .

This is the time, she added, to unite for dignified jobs and confront the attacks on collective bargaining rights.

"The tactics that are being used against you, as workers, have been used on workers throughout Latin America. The blame is being placed on the workers, but we say the fault lies with those who caused the crisis, the transnational corporations and their neo-liberal policies."

Ms Chacon invited everyone present to the Trade Union Conference of the Americas to be held in August in Nicaragua. From Alaska to Patagonia, social organizations and workers who want to attend are welcome, "At this conference we'll join together with the goal of finding solutions to the common problems we face as workers" she said.

The Cuban trade unionist continued, "The most important result of these conferences is that attendees come to the conclusion that the current economic system can no longer offer us what we need and thus we must find other alternatives. If you ask me what system that would be, as a Cuban, I would say it is socialism."

Barack Obama was not the first Democratic Socialists of America-affiliated candidate to run for President of the United States of America.

Larry Agran

That honor belongs to several-time Irvine California mayor and city councilor Larry Agram.

In 1992, Larry Agran, already a controversial figure in Southern California unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party nomination for President. Agran was generally ignored by by the media during his candidacy, though he initially polled as well as more nationally known leftists such as Iowa's Tom Harkin and fellow Californian Jerry Brown.

Democratic Party officials excluded Agran from most debates on various grounds, even having him arrested when he interrupted to ask to participate.

Two years earlier Agran had been "outed" as a member of the U.S.'s largest Marxist organization Democratic Socialists of America, by the socialists own publication, Democratic Left.

Perhaps the Democrats, only three years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, weren't quite ready to have a Marxist on the their Presidential ticket ?

How times have changed.

Despite failing on the national stage, Larry Agran has had a big impact on the local scene.

As of 2010, Agran served as Mayor Pro Tem on the Irvine City Council. He is one of the most prominent Democrat politicians in Orange County, an area famous for its conservatism, and undoubtedly one of the most powerful politicians in the county.

By the 1980s, Irvine was one of the fastest growing cities in California, a major center of aerospace, computer, and high-tech manufacturing - even deemed by US News and World Report as the "best place to live in America."

Larry Agran, a Harvard Law school educated San Fernando Valley native, moved to Irvine in 1975.

In 1978 Agran ran a very sophisticated (and successful) campaign for city council, backed by Tom Hayden's radical Campaign for Economic Democracy (C.E.D.).

About the same time, and not too far away, a young Barack Obama, was hanging around with the C.E.D. crowd at Occidental college, near Los Angeles.

In his early years on the council, Larry Agran, was minority of one. Portraying himself as a moderate environmentalist, he built up a following by attacking the Irvine Company, which founded the planned city and owned about a third of its land.

Outside of Irvine, Agran founded the 1,000-member Local Elected Officials group, in 1983, to "promote local responses to non-local matters: world peace, apartheid, nuclear weapons, Central America..."

Agran's Bulletin of Municipal Foreign Policy carried articles like "Some tips for Building Nicaraguan Sister Cities" and "Think Globally, Sue Locally," as well as endorsements from the likes of D.S.A. member Noam Chomsky.

According to then conservative journalist, turned leftist Media Matters attack dog David Brock;

Under Agran's influence 900 resolutions passed around the country in favor of a nuclear weapons freeze; 118 laws banning nuclear weapons production in local jurisdictions, an effort that coincided with the failure of the freeze movement; refusals by 120 cities to cooperate in a civil defense program proposed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which forced the scuttling of the plan; more than 100 policies prohibiting cities from links with firms doing business in South Africa; 1,300 sister-city arrangements between American cities and foreign cities, "especially so-called adversary cities," as Agran has phrased it; and 22 local declarations of "sanctuary" for Salvadoran refugees, a political movement designed to foster opposition to US policy in Central America.

Agran was quoted as saying that the ultimate aim of the movement is to "take back foreign policy from the federal government."

Agran spoke of the "illegal US wars in Vietnam and Grenada," advocated an immediate, unilateral ban on nuclear weapons testing, and described the US policy of support for the anti communist Nicaraguan resistance as "a policy that ultimately had as its objective the killing of Nicaraguan citizens and the violent overthrow of their popular revolution."

Agran even called called for the entire budget of President Reagan's "Strategic Defense Initiative" to be used to "help cities cope with growing traffic problems."

Yet despite all this, Agran was time and time re-elected in a county that gave Ronald Reagan and George Bush I, the highest votes in the U.S.

Agran was helped all along by a fawning press and the fact that he usually outspent his opponents by many fold.

As one local blogger put it;

It's become conventional wisdom that Agran--one of Orange County's most unethical, pompous and dictatorial public figures--wins because Irvine's residents are too busy to focus attention on local politics.

And that's the problem. Larry Agran and other leftist local politicians are able to have national impact, because many conservatives just do not see the importance of local races. Believe me - the socialists do.

Hopefully, enough Americans will wake up to correct that mistake.

Former International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei, who had previously announced his intentions to run for the presidency of Egypt, said Monday that “if Israel attacked Gaza we would declare war against the Zionist regime."

In an interview with the Al-Watan newspaper he said: "In case of any future Israeli attack on Gaza - as the next president of Egypt – I will open the Rafah border crossing and will consider different ways to implement the joint Arab defense agreement."

Discussing his agenda for Egypt, ElBaradei said that distribution of income between the different classes in Egypt would be his most important priority if he were to win the upcoming elections.

Canada Next?

Blaine-Washington. Union members from Canada and the United States rallied at Peace Arch Park on the U.S.-Canada border, April 2, cheering calls to defend collective bargaining rights and booing every mention of union-busters like Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and Canada's Tory Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

The crowd held small placards emblazoned with U.S. and the Canadian flags and the words, "Working Families Standing Together. We are ONE!"

Jeff Johnson, president of the Washington State Labor Council, told the crowd,

"Corporate America has declared war on the labor movement all across the United States."

Wall Street banks and firms sit on $7 trillion in deposits, refusing to invest in job creation while whining that the nation is "broke" and must accept cutbacks, layoffs and austerity, he charged.

Jabbing his fist in the air, Johnson added, "He was talking about union rights. We must torque on that arc! We've got to bend it down!"

He led the crowd in a chant: "We are union! We are one!"

Jim Sinclair, president of the B.C. Federation of Labor, said Canadian workers are facing a similar nightmare of unionbusting attacks by the B.C. provincial government and Harper. Canada is in the midst of a national election set for May 2 with Harper, now heading a minority government seeking to win majority control of parliament.

"Stephen Harper with a majority is our Scott Walker," Sinclair said, as the crowd erupted in boos. "We can't let it happen!"

"We can't fund our schools and hospitals. That's upside down. You've got to increase taxes on corporations. No one gave us anything we didn't fight for. Not one thing! Are you ready to fight?"

The crowd roared, "Yes!"

Susan Lambert, president of the British Columbia Federation of Teachers, said organized labor is "building a movement that is global in scope."

"We stand here in solidarity with the people of Wisconsin," she said. "Governor Walker is targeting teachers. Why? Because they know an educated population will not tolerate these huge disparities in income."

Dale Anderson, a member of the Amalgamated Transit Workers Local 519 in Wisconsin, said, "Scott Walker awoke a sleeping giant. Hundreds of thousands of union members and their supporters have joined the fight. We will not be denied victory."

He announced that the grassroots movement just filed 21,700 signatures to force a recall election of his state senator, Republican Dan Kapanke, a supporter of Walker's union-busting law now blocked by a judge's restraining order. "He's the first to go!" Anderson shouted.

Barbara Byrd, sec.-treas. of the Oregon AFL-CIO, came with 40 other union members on a bus from Portland. "This is a pivotal time when we have the opportunity to seize the initiative," she told the World.

"Scott Walker could be a great gift in terms of our political effort if we can harness the anger of our members" in the 2012 elections.

Stephen Von Sychowski, a member of the Young Communist League of Canada, said "It showed that for the working class there are no borders...They attack workers on both sides of the border so we must stand together."

Communists Understand They Are in a War for America - So Should You!

The Republican right is squeezing labor and other sectors of the people's movement at the federal, state and local level. Nothing like it has occurred in the post-World-War-II period. And we haven't seen the worst of it.

Public workers are at the center of this attack to be sure, but it also reaches beyond them to the entire working class and people.

While right-wing Republicans are doing the dirty work, not far behind, pulling the strings where necessary, are major sections of the capitalist class.

The .. aim - and this is what makes this crisis response from the top layers of capital different - is to strategically undermine labor's power in the political arena, much like it has done to labor in the field of collective bargaining.

If successful, it would leave the organized section of the working class, the main social force combating right-wing extremism, a badly weakened actor in U.S. politics and society.

But as Robert Burns said about "the best laid schemes o' mice an' men," they go oft astray. Neither labor nor its allies is rolling over and throwing in the towel. Instead, a working class led counteroffensive is emerging - so much so that it is fair to say a new phase of a struggle is afoot, in which labor and its allies could turn the tables decisively in their favor.

The battle in Wisconsin electrified (for good reasons) the whole country. But the counteroffensive is not just Wisconsin - it is national in scope, diverse in form, creative in tactics, and united in action. This nationwide tapestry of struggle is multi-threaded, woven in varied patterns, loops and colors.

It is accompanied by a change in class mood, feeling and consciousness the likes of which we have not seen in recent decades. In the felt experience of tens of millions, capitalism isn't working for working people, the American Dream is crumbling, something better is needed.

The counteroffensive in my view dates back to the 2006 elections, where labor and its allies scored a victory and thus threw the Bush administration on the defensive for the first time.

It continued in 2008 when tens of millions danced in unison on the political stage and elected an African American president who promised a u-turn from the far-right policies of the Bush years.

There was an unfortunate lull in this counteroffensive in the first two years of the new administration, during which time the right and corporate class regrouped and went immediately into attack mode. But the lull is over. Labor's counteroffensive is resurfacing in a strikingly new and promising way.

This augurs well for the future, even though Republicans at the state and federal level, fresh from a victory at the polls last fall, are pressing their advantage.

In the coming months, the GOP because of its legislative majorities may register some victories, but they will be short lived.

In politics, winning and losing isn't a matter of simple arithmetic, not simply a matter of tallying up what was won and what was lost. Rather, it depends on which side is able to expand its support, deepen its unity, and capture the initiative. It also depends on which side is best able to frame the debate and win the battle for public opinion. And on these counts, labor and the people's movements are scoring well.

Already casting a long and ever-present shadow over the nation's politics, economics and public discourse is the 2012 elections.

No struggle has the same possibility to rearrange the political balance of forces in a progressive direction as does the 2012 elections and its outcome. No other struggle has the same possibility to throw the working class and people's counteroffensive onto an entirely new forward trajectory.

Labor may have fewer financial resources in 2012, but its army of activists will be far bigger and its ground game will be bolder.

As we dig into today's struggles, it's not too early to be thinking about what has to be done to defeat right-wing extremism at the polls next year.

The Communists and their Democratic Party allies/minions certainly do see this as a war. If the left wins the 2012 elections, it is hard to ever see America recovering. The left will establish a complete monopoly on power and proceed to squeeze the last vestiges of life from the American economy and people.

If the Tea Party and patriotic forces can take both take over the GOP and win in 2012, America - and the West, has a fighting chance of survival.

Those are the stakes. The communists understand that. So must we.

Should Obama win a second term in 2012, it is strongly rumored that Samantha Power will become our next Secretary of State with Hillary Clinton declining to serve another term. Clinton, a stalwart progressive/Marxist, was bad enough. Power, the wife of America's Regulatory Czar Cass Sunstein, is an unapologetic anti-semite and a monster extreme. Evil has unfurled its vast wings over America and the darkness is threatening a rapid descent. If only the good die young, America's time may have come if this event comes to fruition. Conservatives must win the election in 2012 if America is to survive as we have always known it.

I hate to break it to everyone, but Glenn Beck was right once again. The Responsibility to Protect Doctrine raises it's malevolent countenance bearing a striking resemblance to Stephen King's horror laden thriller "It." A chilling smile of bowel-watering ferocity is bearing down on the State of Israel. Power famously summized the following:

"What we don’t need is some kind of early warning mechanism there, what we need is a willingness to put something on the line in helping the situation. Putting something on the line might mean alienating a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import; it may more crucially mean sacrificing — or investing, I think, more than sacrificing — billions of dollars, not in servicing Israel’s military, but actually investing in the new state of Palestine, in investing the billions of dollars it would probably take, also, to support what will have to be a mammoth protection force, not of the old Rwanda kind, but a meaningful military presence. Because it seems to me at this stage (and this is true of actual genocides as well, and not just major human rights abuses, which were seen there), you have to go in as if you’re serious, you have to put something on the line.

Unfortunately, imposition of a solution on unwilling parties is dreadful. It’s a terrible thing to do, it’s fundamentally undemocratic. But, sadly, we don’t just have a democracy here either, we have a liberal democracy. There are certain sets of principles that guide our policy, or that are meant to, anyway. It’s essential that some set of principles becomes the benchmark, rather than a deference to [leaders] who are fundamentally politically destined to destroy the lives of their own people. And by that I mean what Tom Freidman has called “Sharafat.” I do think in that sense, both political leaders have been dreadfully irresponsible. And, unfortunately, it does require external intervention."

And long before the anointing of Power comes to pass, the UN has threatened to deem and pass a global decree for Palestine if Israel does not concede a state to them by September of this year. From the New York Times:

With revolutionary fervor sweeping the Middle East, Israel is under mounting pressure to make a far-reaching offer to the Palestinians or face a United Nations vote welcoming the State of Palestine as a member whose territory includes all of the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.

It's like thunder and lightning as the New World Order roars to the forefront and overshadows God's chosen people. And in a test worthy of David and Goliath, Israel will fight once again for its survival and America finds herself on the wrong side. It would seem our progressive leaders have chosen to side with the darkness rising over the Middle East.

Leading Marxist Manning Marable Dies - Once Wrote, Obama "Has Read Left Literature, Including My Works"

Manning Marable

One of America's leading academic Marxists, Director of the Institute for Research in African-American Studies, Columbia University, Manning Marable, has died, aged 60.

One of the most influential black radicals of his era, Manning Marable was both activist and academic, playing leadership roles in several Marxist organizations and authoring numerous books and articles, including a soon to be released biography of Malcolm X .

Marable even claimed the President of the United States Barack Obama as one of his readers.

In the December 2008 issue of British Trotskyist journal Socialist Review Marable wrote.

What makes Obama different is that he has also been a community organiser. He has read left literature, including my works, and he understands what socialism is. A lot of the people working with him are, indeed, socialists with backgrounds in the Communist Party or as independent Marxists. There are a lot of people like that in Chicago who have worked with him for years...

One of Marable's first confirmed radical affiliations was with the 1970s Marxist group New American Movement, founded mainly by veterans of the Students for a Democratic Society and the Communist Party USA. Marable's wife Leith Mullings (Feminists for Peace and Barack Obama) comes from a Communist Party background.

Marable was an early member of Democratic Socialists of America after it was founded in 1982 and by 1984 was a D.S.A. vice chair, alongside the likes of far left Democratic congressman Ron Dellums, San Francisco Board of Supervisors member Harry Britt and Washington DC City Councilor Hilda Mason.

Like many socialists Marable was happy to work with communists. In November 1989 he addressed the 10th anniversary conference of the Communist Party controlled U.S. Peace Council, alongside two well known D.S.A. affiliates, Michigan Congressman John Conyers and his Vermont colleague Bernie Sanders.

Marable was an almost annual speaker at D.S.A's Socialist Scholars Conferences in New York - which Barack Obama is known to have attended in the early 1980s.

In 1992, a new Marxist organization Committees of Correspondence was formed when a third of the Communist Party broke away to link up with DSAers, Trotskyists, Maoist, leftist Democrats and anarchists in an attempt to modernize and broaden the U.S. left. Marable became a co-chair of the new coalition.

Through C.O.C. Marable got involved in the LINKS network. This was an Australian based publication designed to link the Cubans, former East German and third world communists with Trotskyists and Maoists, black radicals, anarchists and "green" activists to form new leftist parties in several countries based on the model of the very successful (and now ruling) Brazilian Workers Party.

Interestingly President Obama has worked to forge strong ties to the Brazilian Workers Party leadership since assuming office.

In 1994 Marable was one of many D.S.A. and C.O.C. activists behind the New Party - a crypto socialist grouping aimed at nudging the Democratic Party to the left. While it didn't last long the New Party helped propel its best known members Barack Obama and DSAer/Democrat Illinois Congressman Danny Davis onto the national stage.

In June, 1996 Manning Marable led a delegation of fifteen prominent African Americans to Fidel Castro's Cuba . Members of the delegation included Marable's wife : Leith Mullings , Professor of Anthropology, City University of New York; writer/editor Jean Carey Bond; political theorist Clarence Lusane; Columbia University Chaplain Jewelnel Davis; and DSAer Michael Eric Dyson, Visiting Professor of African American Studies, Columbia University.

During Marable's Cuba sojourn, he met many government officials, intellectuals and community leaders who as well as having a lengthy conversations with Assata Shakur aka Joanne Chesimard an escaped terrorist cop killer from the U.S.

After meeting Chesimard, who is black, Marable wrote;

The struggle to destroy racism still remains a central challenge in Cuba: but on balance, the Cubans are far more honest about their shortcomings, and have achieved greater racial equality for Blacks than we have in the U.S....

In the late in 1990s Marable joined activists from D.S.A., C.O.C., Communist Party USA and other Marxist groups to found the Black Radical Congress. There is no evidence that Barack Obama attended the B.R.C.'s founding conference in Chicago in June 1998, but Obama's Marxist pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright as certainly there, as was future Obama "Green Jobs Czar" Van Jones.

On October 30 and 31, 1998 the radical Brecht Forum celebrated the 150th Anniversary of the Communist Manifesto" at Cooper Union's Great Hall, New York.

Individual endorsers of the event included Manning Marable.

In 2006 -7 several radical groups including D.S.A., C.O.C., Communist party USA and several former leaders of the terrorist Weather Underground including Jeff Jones, Mark Rudd, and Obama allies Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn to form a new radical umbrella organization Movement for a Democratic Society.

At M.D.S.'s February 2007 meeting in New York, Marable was elected Chair of the new organization. M.D.S. never really did take off, but it did last long enough to spawn an offshoot Progressives for Obama, in time for the 2008 Presidential election.

Manning Marable packed a lot of Marxism into his 60 short years.

His socialist legacy lives on on countless University campuses and political movements across the across the nation - even in the Oval Office itself.

Think Communism's Not that Bad? Think Again.

Mind Control. The New York Times has an article on the recently re-opened "National Museum of China," located in Tiananmen Square, the location of the bloody Tiananmen Square Massacre on June 4, 1989. Ironically, but not surprisingly, the museum contains not one mention of the incident. I have included a few excerpts from the article below. The discussion of the rampant revisionist history in this museum is painfully amusing - those same people who would wish socialism and communism upon the United States would hardly be delighted at the prospect of complete State control of mind and freedom...

At the elaborately renovated National Museum of China in Tiananmen Square, visitors interested in the recent history of the world’s fastest rising power can gaze at the cowboy hat that Deng Xiaoping once wore when he visited the United States, or admire the bullhorn that President Hu Jintao used to exhort people to overcome hardship after the Sichuan earthquake in 2008. But if their interests run to the Cultural Revolution that tore the country apart from 1966 to 1976 and resulted in millions of deaths, they will have to search a back corner of the two-million-square-foot museum, which will complete its opening this month, for a single photograph and three lines of text that are the only reference to that era...

In the 1990s, museum curators proposed a much franker look at the problems that led to the current era of reform. Initially, they designed a section called “10 years of tortuous development” on the 1950s and ’60s, including the Great Leap Forward’s devastating famine, according to Kirk Denton, a professor at Ohio State University who is writing a book on China’s museums. Curators proposed a similar section in the current exhibit, arguing that this era was decades in the past and the party was now strong enough to withstand criticism. That idea was rejected, however, after a lengthy debate, according to Ministry of Culture officials. In the end, the famine, widely regarded as the worst in recorded history, is only euphemistically mentioned by the phrase that “the project of constructing socialism suffered severe complications.” The Cultural Revolution was reduced to the photograph and brief caption.

“We wanted to celebrate China,” Mr. Tian said. “I think that’s understandable.”

The Council has spoken, the votes have been cast and the results are in for this week, carved eternally in the records of cyberspace.

One thing many people have been asking is why Libya? Why now? And who benefits? This week’s winner, New Zeal, took a look at the motivation for this war in terms of a new, internationalist doctrine promulgated by the UN and the Obama Administration and the Soros connection in his fine piece, “Responsibility to Protect” – The End of National Sovereignty As We Know It? Here’s a slice:

Glenn Beck has explained President Obama’s decision to attack Libya in terms of the United Nations’ “Responsibility to Protect Doctrine.”

Mr Beck is right.

According to Radio Free Europe:

Those who justify the Libyan intervention on humanitarian grounds draw much of their logic from a concept which has dramatically gained ground over recent decades. The concept is known as “R2P,” shorthand for the world’s “Responsibility to Protect” civilians.
But what does this catchy little phrase mean? Where did it come from? What are its implications?

The United Nations reported in July 2009:
The Obama administration is supporting moves to implement an U.N. doctrine calling for collective military action to halt genocide. In a week-long debate on implementing the Responsibility to Protect Doctrine, the U.S. joined a majority of U.N. countries, including Russia and China, in supporting implementation of the policy. The doctrine itself was approved in 2005 by more than 150 states including the U.S.

The doctrine specifies that diplomatic options such as internal conflict resolution, sanctions, and prosecution by the International Criminal Court, should be used first. If they don’t work, then a multi-national force approved by the Security Council would be deployed.
In other words, if the United Nations does not approve of a certain government’s behavior, and that government’s leaders will not respond to sanctions and the threat of prosecution, they will be attacked militarily.

We had a tie this week between two must read entries in our non-Council category. One was Michael Yon’s harsh critique of a sensationalist piece on Afghanistan entitled Calling BULLSHIT on Rolling Stone and the other was a fascinating piece on the cultural dilemma between the West and the Islamic world called Saving 1 Billion People from Themselves.

As is mandated in these circumstances, I broke the tie. While I thoroughly enjoyed Yon’s snark, Sultan Knish’s piece embraced some deeper questions and got my nod for this week.

Al Qaeda Magazine Praises Middle Eastern Revolutions - Warning to the West

"Inspire" is an English language online magazine reported to be published by the organization Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). The English language glossy magazine is extremely well produced and is aimed at U.S. and European audiences.

The magazine is thought to be the work of Anwar al-Awlaki, an English-speaking cleric and al-Qaeda leader based in Yemen. Awlaki is currently on the United States' "kill or capture" list.

The editorial in Inspire's March 2011 issue, signed by one Yahya Ibrahim, analyzes recent turmoil in the Middle East, and consequences for Al Qaeda, Israel and the West.

Al Qaeda sees the recent uprisings across the region as opening up new opportunities to attack Israel.

Al Qaeda and the Arabic community or "ummah" plan to "meet" in the sacred Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

The editorial does not make comforting reading, for those who think "democracy" is "sweeping the Arab world".

The cover of this issue is about the Tsunami of change that is sweeping the Arab world. With the removal of the despots, the ummah will speak its voice, and when it does, it will chant: Here we start and in al-Aqsa we’ll meet.

The biggest barrier between the mujahidin and freeing al-Aqsa were the tyrant rulers. Now that the friends of America and Israel are being mopped out one after the other, our aspirations are great that the path between us and al-Aqsa is clearing up.

There could be no freeing of Palestine with the presence of the likes of King Abdullah to the East, Hosni Mubarak to the West and al-Saud to the South. Now that Hosni is gone, we heard the Imam of the Friday prayers praying: “O Allah we ask you to allow us to meet in al-Aqsa,” and the millions inTahrir square roared with one voice: Âmîn.

The issue of Palestine is central to the Muslim ummah and now that the masses have spoken, there is no doubt that it will be back to the forefront.

The friends of the West are leaving, the issue of Palestine will be back on the table, the preaching of jihad for the defense of the Muslim ummah will be heard publicly in societies that have freed themselves from the tyrants, and we pray that the heavy handed security measures imposed by the despots to keep America and its allies safe and keep their populations terrorized will be over.

The West has publicly stated its support for the revolution of the masses. But do they really mean it? Or is it because they do not realize the reality of what is happening? Or is it just because they feel that they must join the bandwagon?

The West also believes that the revolts are bad for al Qaeda. This is not the case. Why would the freedoms being granted to the people be bad for al Qaeda? If freedom is so bad for al Qaeda, how come the West has been practicing a restriction on the freedoms of expression when it comes to the message of the mujahidin? Why does the West ban the spread of books and talks of the al Qaeda leadership and in some countries consider it to be a crime to be in possession of such material? Why did the U.S. request from a site such as YouTube to take off lectures by Shaykh Anwar al-Awlaki?

Another line that is being pushed by Western leaders is that because the protests in Egypt and Tunisia were peaceful, they proved al Qaeda – which calls for armed struggle – to be wrong. That is another fallacy. Al Qaeda is not against regime changes through protests but it is against the idea that the change should be only through peaceful means to the exclusion of the use of force. In fact Shaykh Ayman al-Zawahiri spoke in support of the protests that swept Egypt back in 2007 and he alluded to the fact that even if the protests were peaceful, the people need to prepare themselves militarily.

The accuracy of this view is proven by the turn of events in Libya. If the protesters in Libya did not have the flexibility to use force when needed, the uprising would have been crushed.

It is our opinion that the revolutions that are shaking the thrones of dictators are good for the Muslims, good for the mujahidin and bad for the imperialists of the West and their henchmen in the Muslim world.

We are very optimistic and have great expectations of what is to come.

I hope this editorial is widely circulated. Western military resources are being risked and tax money being wasted to "liberate" Libya. The West has stood by, even offered encouragement, while Islamic and socialist extremists have toppled or endangered several pro-Western, or moderate regimes in the Middle East.

These revolutions are not about "democracy". They are about bringing anti-Western extremists to power in every nation in the region.

Israel, and other Western nations could suffer horrendous consequences if this madness is not reversed.

We should take our enemy at his word.

Red Reps 5 Michael Paymar - Soros Linked Secret Socialist in the Minnesota State Legislature

The U.S.'s largest Marxist organization Democratic Socialists of America has infiltrated members and supporters into several state legislatures across the nation. Usually posing as Democrats, the covert socialists are then used to promote D.S.A. legislation and causes, such as gun control, single payer health care, leftist labor legislation etc. at the state level.

One such infiltrator is long-time Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party State Representative Michael Paymar.

First elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1996, Paymar is now serving in his 7th term as a legislator from St. Paul, Minnesota. Until last year's election he was chair of the Public Safety Finance Division which has budget oversight over the Department of Correction, Department of Public Safety, Department of Human Rights, the Courts and crime victim programs. He is also member of the House Finance Committee, Public Safety Policy Division and the Civil Justice Division.

Michael Paymar is also a member of the Council of State Governments Public Safety and Justice Task Force and the National Conference of State Legislatures Committee on Law and Justic.

Paymar has been a strong advocate of gun control, socialized health care and of measures to combat domestic violence. The last is a very worthy cause, but is one often hi-jacked by feminists and socialists to extract money from government and foundations and to denigrate men and masculine institutions.

Paymar is a co-founder of the well known (some would say "infamous") Duluth Domestic Abuse Intervention Project.

D.S.'s goals include to "abolish private ownership of the means of production", increase progressive taxation, promote gun control, introduce socialized health care in every state and gradually turn the U.S. into a socialist country.

Are these aims in line with the views of most Minnesota voters?

On Tuesday March 29, 2011 Senator Charles Schumer, New York was on a conference call talking to his colleagues (fellow Senators), but what he didn't know is that reporters were also listening in to the call.

On the call, He made reference to the Democrat's plan to use the word "extreme" to label the Tea Party for their calls for a balanced budget. Here's a segment of the audio which was recorded:

Transcript: "I always use the word extreme, that's what the caucus instructed me to do..., extreme cuts and all these riders, and Boehner's in a box. But if he supports the Tea Party there's going to inevitably [be] a shutdown. What we are trying to do here..." (audio cut off at this point)

Senator Schumer has clear ties to three extreme organizations.

The Council for a Livable World, founded in 1962 by long-time socialist activist and alleged Soviet agent, Leo Szilard, is a non-profit advocacy organization that seeks to "reduce the danger of nuclear weapons and increase national security", primarily through supporting progressive, congressional candidates who support their policies. The Council supported Charles E. Schumer in his initial successful Senate run as candidate for New York.
In 1997, Schumer was one of 33 co-sponsors of H.R. 950, the Job Creation and Infrastructure Restoration Act. The bill had originally been sponsored by Congressman Matthew Martinez at the request of over 50 prominent labor leaders - all of whom were known supporters or members of the Communist Party USA. The Communist party even delegated senior member Evelina Alarcon to oversee the bill's progress.
In 1998 Schumer enjoyed electoral support from Communist Party breakaway group, Committees of Correspondence.

Socialist Labor Bosses Plan Mass Actions Across America

An Emergency Labor Meeting was held in Cleveland, Ohio on March 4-5, 2011.

Ninety-six union leaders and activists from 26 states and from "a broad cross-section of the labor movement" gathered at the Laborers Local 310 Hall in Cleveland in response to an invitation sent out in January urging them to “explore together what we can do to mount a more militant and robust fight-back campaign to defend the interests of working people.”

Three weeks prior to the Emergency Labor Meeting (ELM), "unionists and community and student activists in Wisconsin unleashed a resistance movement against Governor Scott Walker’s union-busting and concessionary attacks that in a short time has breathed new life into the labor movement".

Participants in the ELM took "full note of the new situation and of the grave dangers to the U.S. labor movement and to workers’ and democratic rights posed by Governor Walker’s attacks".

They pledged to make the "fight against union-busting and the budget cuts/concessions in Wisconsin the centerpiece of an emergency action plan..."

Part of the plan involves a nationwide "Day of Action" on April 4.

Participants welcomed the call issued by Larry Cohen, International President of the Communication Workers of America to organize on April 4, the anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This call has since been supported by the AFL-CIO Executive Board, which is urging "movement-wide dramatic actions" on this day.

The closed doors meeting was endorsed by some of American labor's most radical socialist labor leaders.

Go to the streets to oppose the concessions demanded by the bosses and the government. There is plenty of money available without demanding givebacks from public employees, but this requires changing our nation's priorities to raise taxes on the rich, redirect war dollars to meet human needs, and more -- all demands that we must place on the federal government. We can no longer effectively deal with such crucial issues as health care and retirement through collective bargaining alone.

Instead of supporting wars of intervention, the labor movement should embrace international worker solidarity. The mutual declarations of support between protesters in Madison and insurgent independent unions in Egypt are a proud example that deserve wide emulation.

The U.S labor movement is now completely dominated by socialists and communists. Given the chance they intend to bring chaos to several major cities across America. They plan to continue, until their man Barack Obama is re-elected President in 2012.

Former President Jimmy Carter began a three-day visit to Cuba yesterday, amidst a stormy background of seemingly constant escalation and de-escalation of tensions between the U.S. and the island nation...

Carter visited Cuba previously in 2002, the first and only U.S. president to visit Cuba since the 1959 revolution. According to the Cuban press, the visit "was a demonstration of his interest in better bilateral relations..."

The ex-president's trip takes place during uncertain times for the island nation and its relationship with the United States. In what some consider the beginning of a thaw, the Obama administration loosened restrictions that President Bush had imposed on exchanges with Cuba...

Carter's visit comes just before the next congress of the Cuban Communist Party, set to take place next month...

The party congress is one of the main reasons for Carter's visit. According to the Carter Center, he and former first lady Rosalynn Carter traveled to Cuba to "meet with President Raúl Castro and other Cuban officials and citizens to learn about new economic policies and the upcoming party congress, and to discuss ways to improve U.S.-Cuba relations..."

While Carter's trip is technically a private venture, sponsored by his organization, analysts say some sort of policy announcement, either from the Cuban side, the U.S. or both, is possible.

Russia, U.S. May Ease Visa Regime 'In Foreseeable Future'

Russia and the United States may ease or even cancel visa regime fairly soon, the head of the State Duma's committee on international affairs said on Wednesday.

Vladimir Putin told U.S. Vice President Joe Biden in early March that Russia and the United States would take an "historic step" by abolishing visas. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said some two weeks later that Moscow is currently persuading the U.S. to sign an agreement to scrap visas for visits lasting under 90 days.

"The idea seems fantastic to some, but I'm convinced that it is pragmatic and may be implemented in the foreseeable future, if not the full abolishment then at least eased visa procedures," Konstantin Kosachev told the World Russian Forum annual conference in Washington.

He said that Russia was ready to ease visa regime on the condition that the concessions are mutual.

The Russian authorities have long been trying to persuade Europe to drop visas for Russian citizens, but their attempts have so far yielded no significant results.

When I first encountered Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" as a teen back in the '70s, it was like being hit across the forehead with a cricket bat.

It was pretty hard going for a "bleeding heart" leftie Kiwi boy, brought up on free milk, family benefits and eternal gratitude for our "benevolent" welfare state.

Now "Atlas Shrugged", first released the year before I was born, is a feature film, with a Kiwi actor Grant Bowler, playing the leading role!

Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi

Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, the Libyan rebel leader, has said jihadists who fought against allied troops in Iraq are on the front lines of the battle against Muammar Gaddafi's regime.

In an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Mr al-Hasidi admitted that he had recruited "around 25" men from the Derna area in eastern Libya to fight against coalition troops in Iraq. Some of them, he said, are "today are on the front lines in Adjabiya".

Mr al-Hasidi insisted his fighters "are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists," but added that the "members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader".

His revelations came even as Idriss Deby Itno, Chad's president, said al-Qaeda had managed to pillage military arsenals in the Libyan rebel zone and acquired arms, "including surface-to-air missiles, which were then smuggled into their sanctuaries".

Mr al-Hasidi admitted he had earlier fought against "the foreign invasion" in Afghanistan, before being "captured in 2002 in Peshwar, in Pakistan". He was later handed over to the US, and then held in Libya before being released in 2008.

US and British government sources said Mr al-Hasidi was a member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, or LIFG, which killed dozens of Libyan troops in guerrilla attacks around Derna and Benghazi in 1995 and 1996.

Even though the LIFG is not part of the al-Qaeda organisation, the United States military's West Point academy has said the two share an "increasingly co-operative relationship". In 2007, documents captured by allied forces from the town of Sinjar, showed LIFG emmbers made up the second-largest cohort of foreign fighters in Iraq, after Saudi Arabia.

Earlier this month, al-Qaeda issued a call for supporters to back the Libyan rebellion, which it said would lead to the imposition of "the stage of Islam" in the country.

Yep, that's what we all want. Western blood and treasure making the world safer for al-Qaeda.

Using the Responsibility to Protect Doctrine, Marxists of the world are uniting to blaze a bloody trail across the globe in order to form an iron-fisted new world order. All in the disingenuous name of protecting the world's populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. Which by the way, are subject to a very fluid and subjective interpretation.

Let's be blunt. Gadhafi is a monster and a murderous dictator. He should have been removed and brought to justice 25 years ago for murdering Americans and our troops. But we are not the world's policemen and Libya currently poses no threat to the US. Obama bypassed Congress and the Constitution and went straight to George Soros, Cass Sunstein, Samantha Powers and the UN. This should be an impeachable offense.

The Middle East is on fire in a whole list of countries, but the only one we intervene in is Libya. Why? Well, I believe that Libya is at least on the face of the matter, a test case for R2P. If the UN and world powers are successful in getting away with going in with military might to determine who rules that country in the name of security and protection, what is to stop them from going into any country they please for virtually any reason they can manufacture? Who will stop them? Next on the docket for R2P: Israel and the US.

R2P however INTENDS to police the world:

To convince the American people and its leaders to embrace the norm of the responsibility to protect as a domestic and foreign policy priority.
To convince our political leadership that the US must join the ICC.
To convince our political leadership to empower the UN and the ICC with a legitimate and effective deterrent and enforcement mechanism - an International Marshals Service - a standing international police force to arrest atrocity crimes indictees.

If the United Nations does not approve of a certain government’s behavior, and that government’s leaders will not respond to sanctions and the threat of prosecution, they will be attacked militarily.

Do you really believe the protests in the Middle East were spontaneous? That is laughable. It was prearranged, choreographed preemptive anarchy on a global scale to give justification to the Responsibility to Protect Doctrine. And so far, what Obama, Soros, Powers, Sunstein, world leaders and the UN have put in place while the rest of us were watching elsewhere, seems to be going off without a hitch. All the while, useful idiots in the media continue to miss the point in ways that either indicate complete incompetence or being absolutely on board with this one world diktat.

Trevor Loudon of New Zeal has written a piece that every American needs to read and now: “Responsibility to Protect” – The End of National Sovereignty As We Know It? It is the first of a series that he will be writing on the subject and his research is superb. One wonders why it takes a Kiwi to do the research work that most Americans seem unwilling to do. The only other I have seen that has the spine to confront this is Glenn Beck. As usual, Mr. Beck does an in-depth, factual and professional job of exposing the facts behind this whole mess. The rest of the media seem to all be on the side of Marxists, radicals and one world enthusiasts, assuming they don't also suffer from the most widespread affliction of selective blindness ever.

Remember, the ultimate goal is not itself anarchy. Anarchy is merely the vehicle. You can't convert the several sovereign nations of the world to a single monolithic governing entity without first engendering instability to create the necessary power vacuum, so that the self-appointed world rulers can step forward and save them. As is of course, their "responsibility."

Geraldine Ferraro, the U.S.'s first ever female vice presidential candidate died recently, aged 75.

A leftist Democrat, Ferraro got her position, the same way many other senior Dems did - with the help of Marxists.

It is a central theme of this blog that Barack Obama was promoted to the U.S. presidency, by an alliance of several Marxist groups including Democratic Socialists of America.

While this sounds far-fetched to some, there is nothing new about socialists working inside the Democratic Party to put "their" candidates into very high positions.

The late Millie Jeffrey was a leader in United Auto Workers and a high ranking Democrat in Michigan and on the national stage for decades.

In 2000 President Bill Clinton presented Millie Jeffrey, with the nation's highest civilian honor bestowed by the U.S. Government, the Presidential Medal Of Freedom, with the citation stating that those awarded "have helped America to achieve freedom."

In the 1950 and 60s, Jeffrey was a Democratic Party National committeewoman from Michigan. In 1960, she helped campaign for John F. Kennedy, as a member of the Democratic National Committee.

After mobilizing the Michigan Democratic Party behind JFK in 1960, she then reportedly pushed JFK to initiate the Peace Corps.

Millie Jeffrey quit the DNC in the late 60s to protest the Vietnam War and to work for Robert Kennedy.

Less publicized were the facts that Millie Jeffrey was also a long time leader of Democratic Socialists of America, a "midwife" to the radical Students for a Democratic Society and a veteran of the communist infiltrated Women's International League for Peace and Freedom.

Jeffrey also traveled to the Soviet Union in 1969 and to the Peoples Republic of China in 1974.

According to Democratic Socialists of America member and prominent journalist Harold Meyerson, Millie Jeffrey was an influential power broker inside the Democratic Party.

In the early ‘70s, during her final years on the staff of the United Auto Workers, she (Jeffrey) helped found the National Women’s Political Caucus and launched a decade-long campaign to have Democratic National Convention delegate slots divided equally between men and women.''

From her perch on several Democratic Party commissions, and using the contacts she’d acquired in 40 years of liberal activism, Millie built enough support for this wild-eyed notion that it was adopted by the 1980 convention.

Next step was placing left-leaning Geraldine Ferraro on the Democrat ticket as the Party's first female vice presidential candidate.

Millie then became “the unelected leader,” in the words of her co-conspirator Joanne Howes, of a committee of seven Democratic women promoting the idea of a female vice presidential candidate on the 1984 ticket. “By the fall of 1983,” recalls Howes, “we came to the conclusion that the right person was Gerry Ferraro” – then an obscure member of Congress from Queens. That required augmenting Ferraro’s visibility and bona fides, and as a result of “Millie’s strategic thinking,” says Howes, the group successfully pressured the party and Walter Mondale to make Ferraro chair of the convention platform committee. The rest is herstory.

Joanne Howes, like Millie Jeffrey, was close to D.S.A.'s parent organization, the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee. Howes was also a founder and remains a board member of the U.S.'s largest Political Action Committee Emily's List which specializes in financing "Democratic, pro-choice women candidates".

This is a good example U.S. left works inside the "Democratic" Party. A small group of party "insiders", led by socialists were perfectly capable of putting "their" candidate into the Number 2 spot on the Democratic Party ticket. So much for the "democratic" part of Democratic Socialists of America.

In 20 years time, will Democratic Socialists of America, or their Communist Party and Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism allies finally admit their role in putting Barack Obama into the White House?

If they do, it will only because they no longer fear any opposition.

Geert Wilders: The Failure of Multiculturalism and How to Turn the Tide

Signore e signori, ladies and gentlemen, dear friends of the Magna Carta Foundation, molte grazie.

Thank you for inviting me to Rome. It is great to be here in this beautiful city which for many centuries was the capital and the centre of Europe’s Judeo-Christian culture.

Together with Jerusalem and Athens, Rome is the cradle of our Western civilization – the most advanced and superior civilization the world has ever known.

As Westerners, we share the same Judeo-Christian culture. I am from the Netherlands and you are from Italy. Our national cultures are branches of the same tree. We do not belong to multiple cultures, but to different branches of one single culture. This is why when we come to Rome, we all come home in a sense. We belong here, as we also belong in Athens and in Jerusalem.

It is important that we know where our roots are. If we lose them we become deracinated. We become men and women without a culture.

I am here today to talk about multiculturalism. This term has a number of different meanings. I use the term to refer to a specific political ideology. It advocates that all cultures are equal. If they are equal it follows that the state is not allowed to promote any specific cultural values as central and dominant. In other words: multiculturalism holds that the state should not promote a leitkultur, which immigrants have to accept if they want to live in our midst.

It is this ideology of cultural relativism which the German Chancellor Angela Merkel recently referred to when she said that multiculturalism has proved “an absolute failure.”

My friends, I dare say that we have known this all along. Indeed, the premise of the multiculturalist ideology is wrong. Cultures are not equal. They are different, because their roots are different. That is why the multiculturalists try to destroy our roots.

Rome is a very appropriate place to address these issues. There is an old saying which people of our Western culture are all familiar with. “When in Rome, do as the Romans do,” it says. This is an obvious truth: If you move somewhere, you must adapt to the laws and customs of the land.

The multicultural society has undermined this rule of common sense and decency. The multicultural society tells the newcomers who settle in our cities and villages: You are free to behave contrary to our norms and values. Because your norms and values are just as good, perhaps even better, than ours.
It is, indeed, appropriate to discuss these matters here in Rome, because the history of Rome also serves as a warning.

Will Durant, the famous 20th century American historian, wrote that “A great civilization cannot be destroyed from outside if it has not already destroyed itself from within.” This is exactly what happened here, in Rome, 16 centuries ago.

In the 5th century, the Roman Empire fell to the Germanic Barbarians. There is no doubt that the Roman civilization was far superior to that of the Barbarians. And yet, Rome fell. Rome fell because it had suffered a loss of belief in its own civilization. It had lost the will to stand up and fight for survival.

Rome did not fall overnight. Rome fell gradually. The Romans scarcely noticed what was happening. They did not perceive the immigration of the Barbarians as a threat until it was too late. For decades, Germanic Barbarians, attracted by the prosperity of the Empire, had been crossing the border.

At first, the attraction of the Empire on newcomers could be seen as a sign of the cultural, political and economic superiority of Rome. People came to find a better life which their own culture could not provide. But then, on December 31st in the year 406, the Rhine froze and tens of thousands of Germanic Barbarians, crossed the river, flooded the Empire and went on a rampage, destroying every city they passed. In 410, Rome was sacked.

The fall of Rome was a traumatic experience. Numerous books have been written about the cataclysmal event and Europeans were warned not to make the same mistake again. In 1899, in his book ‘The River War,’ Winston Churchill warned that Islam is threatening Europe in the same way as the Barbarians once threatened Rome. “Mohammedanism,” Churchill wrote – I quote – “is a militant and proselytizing faith. No stronger retrograde force exists in the World. […] The civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.” End of quote.

Churchill is right. However, if Europe falls, it will fall because, like ancient Rome, it no longer believes in the superiority of its own civilization. It will fall because it foolishly believes that all cultures are equal and that, consequently, there is no reason why we should fight for our own culture in order to preserve it.

This failure to defend our own culture has turned immigration into the most dangerous threat that can be used against the West. Multiculturalism has made us so tolerant that we tolerate the intolerant.
Ladies and gentlemen, make no mistake: Our opponents are keenly aware of our weakness. They realize that the pattern which led to the fall of Rome, is at play today in the West. They are keenly aware of the importance of Rome as a symbol of the West. Over and over again they hint at the fall of Rome. Rome is constantly on their minds.

• The former Turkish Prime Minister Erbakan said – I quote: “The whole of Europe will become Islamic. We will conquer Rome”.
• Yunis al-Astal, a Hamas cleric and member of the Palestinian Parliament said – I quote: “Very soon Rome will be conquered.”
• Ali Al-Faqir, the former Jordanian Minister of Religion, stated that – I quote: “Islam will conquer Rome.”
• Sheikh Muhammad al-Arifi, imam of the mosque of the Saudi Defence Academy, said – I quote: “We will control Rome and introduce Islam in it.”
Our opponents are hoping for an event that is akin to the freezing of the Rhine in 406, when thousands of immigrants will be given an easy opportunity to cross massively into the West.
• In a 1974 speech to the UN, the Algerian President Houari Boumédienne, said – I quote: “One day, millions of men will leave the Southern Hemisphere to go to the Northern Hemisphere. And they will not go there as friends. Because they will go there to conquer it. And they will conquer it with their sons. The wombs of our women will give us victory.” End of quote.
• Libyan dictator Kadhafi said, I quote: “There are tens of millions of Muslims in the European continent today and their number is on the increase. This is the clear indication that the European continent will be converted into Islam. Europe will one day soon be a Muslim continent.” End of quote.

Our opponents are aiming for a repetition of the fall of Rome in the 5th century and want to use exactly the same methods. “The strategy of exporting human beings and having them breed in abundance is the simplest way to take possession of a territory,” warned the famous Italian author Oriana Fallaci.

However, the situation today could be worse than it was when the Roman Empire fell. The Germanic Barbarians who overran Rome were not driven by an ideology. After having sacked Rome, they eventually adopted the Judeo-Christian civilization of Rome. They destroyed Rome because they wanted its riches, but they realized and recognized that Roman civilization was superior to their own Barbaric culture.

Having destroyed Rome, the Germanic tribes eventually tried to rebuild it. In 800, the Frankish leader Charlemagne had himself crowned Roman Emperor. Three hundred years later, the Franks and the other Europeans would go on the Crusades in defence of their Christian culture. The Crusades were as Oriana Fallaci wrote – I quote – a “counter-offensive designed to stem Islamic expansionism in Europe.” Rome had fallen, but like a phoenix it had risen again.

Contrary to the Barbarians which confronted Rome, the followers of Muhammad are driven by an ideology which they want to impose on us.

Islam is a totalitarian ideology. Islamic Shariah law supervises every detail of life. Islam is not compatible with our Western way of life. Islam is a threat to our values. Respect for people who think otherwise, the equality of men and women, the equality of homosexuals and heterosexuals, respect for Christians, Jews, unbelievers and apostates, the separation of church and state, freedom of speech, they are all under pressure because of islamization.

Europe is islamizing at a rapid pace. Many European cities have large islamic concentrations. In some neighbourhoods, Islamic regulations are already being enforced. Women’s rights are being trampled. We are confronted with headscarves and burqa’s, polygamy, female genital mutilation, honour-killings. “In each one of our cities” says Oriana Fallaci, “there is a second city, a state within the state, a government within the government. A Muslim city, a city ruled by the Koran.” – End of quote.

Ladies and gentlemen, make no mistake: The multiculturalist Left is facilitating islamization. Leftist multiculturalists are cheering for every new shariah bank, for every new islamic school, for every new mosque. Multiculturalists consider Islam as being equal to our own culture. Shariah law or democracy? Islam or freedom? It doesn’t really matter to them. But it does matter to us. The entire leftist elite is guilty of practising cultural relativism. Universities, churches, trade unions, the media, politicians. They are all betraying our hard-won liberties.

Ladies and gentlemen, what is happening in Europe today has to some extent been deliberately planned.

In October 2009, Andrew Neather, the former advisor of British Prime Minister Tony Blair, confirmed that the British Government had deliberately organized mass immigration as part of a social engineering project. The Blair Government wanted to – I quote – “make the UK truly multicultural.” To achieve this end, 2.3 million foreigners were allowed to enter Britain between 2000 and 2009. Neather says this policy has “enriched” Britain.

Ordinary people, however, do not consider the decline of societal cohesion, the rise of crime, the transformation of their old neighborhoods into no-go zones, to be an “enrichment.”

Ordinary people are well aware that they are witnessing a population replacement phenomenon. Ordinary people feel attached to the civilization which their ancestors created. They do not want it to be replaced by a multicultural society where the values of the immigrants are considered as good as their own. It is not xenophobia or islamophobia to consider our Western culture as superior to other cultures – it is plain common sense.

Fortunately, we are still living in a democracy. The opinion of ordinary people still matters. I am the leader of the Dutch Party of Freedom which aims to halt the Islamization process and defend the traditional values and liberties in the Netherlands. The Party of Freedom is the fastest growing party in the Netherlands.

Because the message of my party is so important, I support initiatives to establish similar parties in other countries, such as Germany, France and the United Kingdom, where they do not yet exist. Last month, a poll in Britain showed that a staggering 48 percent of the British would consider supporting a non-fascist and non-violent party that vows to crack down on immigration and Islamic extremists and restrict the building of mosques.

In October last year, I was in Berlin where I gave a keynote speech at a meeting of Die Freiheit, a newly established party led by René Stadtkewitz, a former Christian-Democrat. German polls indicate that such a party has a potential of 20 percent of the electorate.

My speech, in which I urged the Germans to stop feeling ashamed about their German identity drew a lot of media attention. Two weeks later, German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated that multiculturalism is “an absolute failure.” Horst Seehofer, the leader of the Bavarian Christian-Democrats, was even more outspoken. “Multiculturalism is dead,” he said.

Last month, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said: “We have been too concerned about the identity of the immigrant and not enough about the identity of the country that was receiving him.” – End of quote.

Five weeks ago, British Prime Minister David Cameron blamed multiculturalism for Islamic extremism. “We have allowed the weakening of our collective identity,” he said. “Under the doctrine of state multiculturalism, we have encouraged different cultures to live […] apart from the mainstream.” – End of quote.

In his speech, David Cameron still makes a distinction between the Islamist ideology, which he calls extremist and dangerous, and Islam, which he says is peaceful religion. I do not share this view, and neither did Cameron’s great predecessor Winston Churchill. Stating that Islam is peaceful is a multiculturalist dogma which is contrary to the truth.

Politicians such as Merkel. Sarkozy and Cameron still do not seem to have understood what the problem really is. Nevertheless, the fact that they feel compelled to distance themselves from multiculturalism is a clear indication that they realize they need to pay lip-service to what the majority of their populations have long understood. Namely that the massive influx of immigrants from Islamic countries is the most negative development that Europe has known in the past 50 years.

Yesterday, a prestigious poll in the Netherlands revealed that 50 percent of the Dutch are of the opinion that Islam and democracy are not compatible, while 42 percent think they are. Even two thirds of the voters of the Liberal Party and of the Christian-Democrat Party are convinced that Islam and democracy are not compatible.

This, then, is the political legacy of multiculturalism. While the parties of the Left have found themselves a new electorate, the establishment parties of the Right still harbour their belief that Islam is a religion of peace on a par with peaceful religions such as Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism and others.
The problem with multiculturalism is a refusal to see reality. The reality that our civilization is superior, and the reality that Islam is a dangerous ideology.

Today, we are confronted with political unrest in the Arab countries. Autocratic regimes, such as that of Ben Ali in Tunisia, Mubarak in Egypt, Kadhafi in Libya, the Khalifa dynasty in Bahrain, and others, have been toppled or are under attack. The Arab peoples long for freedom. This is only natural.

However, the ideology and culture of Islam is so deeply entrenched in these countries that real freedom is simply impossible. As long as Islam remains dominant there can be no real freedom.

Let us face reality. On March 8, the International Women’s Day, 300 women demonstrated on Cairo’s Tahrir Square in post-Mubarak Egypt. Within minutes, the women were charged by a group of bearded men, who beat them up and dragged them away. Some were even sexually assaulted. The police did not interfere. This is the new Egypt: On Monday, people demonstrate for freedom; on Tuesday, the same people beat up women because they, too, demand freedom.

I fear that in Islamic countries, democracy will not lead to real freedom. A survey by the American Pew Center found that 59 percent of Egyptians prefer democracy to any other form of government. However, 85 percent say that Islam’s influence on politics is good, 82 percent believe that adulterers should be stoned, 84 percent want the death penalty for apostates, and 77 percent say that thieves should be flogged or have their hands cut off.

Ronald Reagan was right when he called Kadhafi a “mad dog.” However, we should not harbor the illusion that there can be real freedom and real democracy in a country where Islam is dominant. There is no doubt that the results of the Pew survey in Egypt apply in Libya, too. It is not in our interest to bring the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Tripoli and install a khalifate in Libya.

Of course, the world has to stop Kadhafi from killing his own people. However, as UN Resolution 1973 stated last week, this is primarily the responsibility of – I quote – “in particular [the] States of the region.” End of quote. Why does a country like the Netherlands have to contribute six F16 fighter jets to enforce the arms embargo in Libya, while Saudi Arabia does not contribute a single plane from its fleet of nearly 300 fighter jets? Arabs are dying, but the Arab countries are shirking their responsibilities.

And one of the major threats of the current crisis is not even addressed by our leaders: How are we going to prevent that thousands of economic fugitives and fortune seekers cross the Mediterranean and arrive at place like Lampedusa? Now that Tunisia is liberated, young Tunisians should help to rebuild their country instead of leaving for Lampedusa. Europe cannot afford another influx of thousands of refugees.

Ladies and gentlemen,
It is time to wake up. We need to confront reality and we need to speak the truth. The truth is that Islam is evil, and the reality is that Islam is a threat to us.

Before I continue I want to make clear, however, that I do not have a problem with Muslims as such. There are many moderate Muslims. That is why I always make a clear distinction between the people and the ideology, between Muslims and Islam. There are many moderate Muslims, but there is no such thing as a moderate Islam.

Islam strives for world domination. The koran commands Muslims to exercise jihad and impose shariah law.

Telling the truth about immigration and warning that Islam might not be as benevolent as the ruling elite says, has been made a hate speech crime in several EU member states. As you probably know, I have been brought to court on charges of hate speech. That is the paradox of the multicultural society. It claims to be pluralistic, but allows only one point of view of world affairs, namely that all cultures are equal and that they are all good.

The fact that we are treated as criminals for telling the truth must not, however, deter us. The truth that Islam is evil has always been obvious to our ancestors. That is why they fought. It was very clear to them that our civilization was far superior to Islam.

It is not difficult to understand why our culture is far better than Islam. We Europeans, whether we be Christians, Jews, agnostics or atheists, believe in reason. We have always known that nothing good could be expected from Islam.

While our culture is rooted in Jerusalem, Athens and Rome, Islam’s roots are the desert and the brain of Muhammad. Our ancestors understood the consequences very well. The Koran, wrote the historian Theophanes, who lived in the second half of the 8th century, is based on hallucinations.

“Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman,” the Byzantine Emperor Manuel II said in 1391, adding: “God is not pleased by blood – and not acting reasonable is contrary to God’s nature.”

For 1,400 years, Westerners have been criticizing Islam and its founder because they recognized evil when they saw it. But then, suddenly, in the last decades of the past century, especially from the 1970s onwards, Western intellectuals stopped doing so.

The moral and cultural relativism of Marxism led the West’s political and intellectual elites to adopt a utopian belief in a universal brotherhood of mankind.

Multiculturalism is a culture of repudiation of Europe’s heritage and freedoms. It weakens the West day by day. It leads to the self-censorship of the media and academia, the collapse of the education system, the emasculation of the churches, the subversion of the nation-state, the break-down of our free society.

While today – at last – our leaders seem to realize what a disastrous failure multiculturalism has been, multiculturalism is not dead yet. More is needed to defeat multiculturalism than the simple proclamations that it has been an “absolute failure.” What is needed is that we turn the tide of Islamization.

There are a few things which we can do in this regard.

One thing which we should do is to oppose the introduction of Sharia or Islamic law in our countries. In about a dozen states in the United States, legislation is currently being introduced to prevent the introduction of Sharia. In early May, I will be travelling to the U.S. to express my support to these initiatives. We should consider similar measures in Europe.

Another thing which we should do is support Muslims who want to leave Islam. An International Women’s Day is useless in the Arab world if there is no International Leave Islam Day. I propose the introduction of such a day in which we can honor the courageous men and women who want to leave Islam. Perhaps we can pick a symbolic date for such a day and establish an annual prize for an individual who has turned his back on Islam or an organization which helps people to liberate themselves from Islam.

It is very easy to become a Muslim. All one has to do is to pronounce the Shahada, the Islamic creed, which says – I quote “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” It should be equally easy to leave Islam by pronouncing a counter-Shahada, which says “I leave Islam and join humankind.”

A third measure to turn the tide of Islamization is to reemphasize the sovereignty of the nation-state. The peoples of the free world will only be able to fight back against Islam if they can rally around a flag with which they can identify. This flag, symbolizing pre-political loyalty, can only be the flag of our nation. In the West, our freedoms are embodied in our nation-states. This is why the multiculturalists are hostile to the nation-state and aim to destroy it.

National identity is an inclusive identity: It welcomes everyone, whatever his religion or race, who is willing to assimilate into a nation by sharing the fate and future of a people. It ties the individual to an inheritance, a tradition, a loyalty, and a culture.

I want to elaborate a bit on this since we are gathered here today in Rome. Again, it is appropriate that we are in Rome. In this city, in 1957, and – what an ironic coincidence – on this very day, the 25th of March, the Treaty of Rome was signed. This Treaty obliges the member states of the European Union to aim for “an ever closer union.”

Unfortunately, this union, like other multinational organizations, has become one of the vehicles for the promotion of multiculturalism. The EU has fallen in the hands of a multiculturalist elite who by undermining national sovereignty destroy the capacity of the peoples of Europe to democratically decide their own future.

The new government in my country, which is supported by my party, wants to restrict immigration. That is what our voters want. But we are confronted by the fact that our policies have to a large extent been outsourced to “Europe” and that our voters no longer have a direct say over their own future.

On account of international treaties, EU legislation prevails over national legislation and cannot be reversed by national parliaments. Indeed, in 2008, the European Court of Justice, the highest court in the EU, annulled both Irish and Danish immigration legislation. The Court stated that national law is subordinate to whatever is ruled on the European level. In March 2010, the European Court of Justice annulled Dutch legislation restricting family reunification for immigrants on welfare.

The ease with which Europe’s political elite conducts an immigration policy aimed at the deracination of Europe shows the insensitivity of this elite. It willingly sacrifices its own people to its political goal, without any consideration for the people involved.

Lower class blue-collar people have been driven from their neighborhoods. There is no respect for their democratic vote. On the contrary, people who do not agree with the multiculturalist schemes are considered to be racists and xenophobes, while the undefined offence of “racism and xenophobia” has been made central to all moral pronouncements by the European Union, the Council of Europe, the United Nations, and other supra-national organizations. This represents a systematic assault by the elite on the ordinary feelings of national loyalty.

In 2008, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe stated that the member-states must – I quote – “condemn and combat Islamophobia” and ensure “that school textbooks do not portray Islam as a hostile or threatening religion.” – end of quote.

In March 2010, the United Nations Human Rights Council passed a resolution criminalizing so-called “defamation of religions.” The resolution, authored by Pakistan, mentions only one religion by name: Islam. With its 57 member states the Organization of the Islamic Conference systematically uses its voting power in the UN to subvert the concept of freedom and human rights.

In 1990, the OIC rejected the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and replaced it by the Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam, which states in articles 24 that – I quote – “All the rights and freedoms stipulated in this Declaration are subject to the Islamic Sharia.” – end of quote.

This “human rights” charade has to stop if Western civilization wants to survive. Human rights exist for the protection of individuals, not religions and ideologies.

The EU’s aim, meanwhile, seems to be to destroy the old sovereign nations and replace them by new provincial identities, which are all clones of each other. Britanistan will not differ from Netherlandistan, nor Germanistan from Italiastan, or any other province of the European superstate in the making.
We must reclaim Europe. We can only do so by giving political power back to the nation-state.

By defending the nation-states which we love, we defend our own identity. By defending our identity, we defend who we are and what we are against those who want to deracinate us. Against those who want to cut us from our roots, so that our culture withers away and dies.

My friends,
Twenty years after the ordinary people, Europe’s mainstream conservative leaders, such as Merkel, Sarkozy and Cameron, have finally – better late than never – come to the obvious conclusion, namely that multiculturalism is a failure. However, they do not have a plan to remedy the situation.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for change. We must make haste. Time is running out. Ronald Reagan said: “We need to act today, to preserve tomorrow”. That is why I propose the following measures in order to preserve our freedom:

First, we will have to defend freedom of speech. It is the most important of our liberties. If we are free to speak, we will be able to tell people the truth and they will realize what is at stake.

Second, we will have to end cultural relativism. To the multiculturalists, we must proudly proclaim: Our Western culture is far superior to the Islamic culture. Only when we are convinced of that, we will be willing to fight for our own identity.

Third, we will have to stop Islamization. Because more Islam means less freedom. We must stop immigration from Islamic countries, we must expel criminal immigrants, we must forbid the construction of new mosques. There is enough Islam in Europe already. Immigrants must assimilate and adapt to our values: When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

Fourth, we must restore the supremacy and sovereignty of the nation-state. Because we are citizens of these states, we can take pride in them. We love our nation because they are our home, because they are the legacy which our fathers bestowed on us and which we want to bestow on our children. We are not multiculturalists, we are patriots. And because we are patriots, we are willing to fight for freedom.

Let me end with a final – and a positive – remark: Though the situation is bad and multiculturalism is still predominant, we are in better shape than the Roman Empire was before its fall.

The Roman Empire was not a democracy. The Romans did not have freedom of speech. We are the free men of the West. We do not fight for an Empire, we fight for ourselves. We fight for our national republics. You fight for Italy, I fight for the Netherlands, others fight for France, Germany, Britain, Denmark or Spain. Together we stand. "Multi-culturalism" - Do We Need Socialist, or Capitalist Solutions?

While I agree with the sentiments in the above video, most commentators on "multiculturalism" seem to miss the main point.

It is not immigration, even Islamic immigration that is the main problem. It is socialism.

The United States in the 19th century and early part of the 20th century was an open, free society, with minimal, if any government welfare. Immigrants came to the U.S., and while some did "ghettoise" for a generation or two, all eventually integrated into the U.S. mainstream.

The incentives were right. People came to the U.S. to escape the class stratification and statism of Europe to live free prosperous lives in a new world. The U.S. got the best of Europe and Asia, not the worst.

The two groups that had the most difficulty integrating, the Blacks and the American Indians, were the groups that suffered most from welfarism and statism - the Blacks on slave plantations, the Indians on government funded reservations.

If you want an open immigration immigration policy, you must also have an open economy and a free non socialist society.

Because France and all other European countries are socialist and socially stratified, they tend to attract immigrants who want a free ride. After a generation or two of being confined to ghettoes and living largely off the state tit, the children of these immigrants become a dispirited, bitter, resentful, crime ridden, disloyal 5th columnists - easily manipulated by radical Imans, labor leaders, "community organizers" and Marxist revolutionaries.

France and the rest of Europe must choose between the two futures below:

Turn France (Britain, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Italy) into prosperous, low tax, free market, open constitutional societies, with no special favors for any social group. Rid the country of all state sponsored "multi-culturalism" and let individuals work out their own social arrangements as harmoniously as possible. Let freedom, capitalism and inter-marriage break down the social barriers.
Carry on down the statist road. Put new arrivals on welfare benefits and pander to their every cultural fetish, no matter how backward or barbaric. Throw money into their ghettos and encourage non-integration. This will eventually lead to mass poverty, and ever increasing social tensions, "solveable" only by mass re-patriations and/or civil war.

This blogger favors the first option, but is not stupid enough to think it is likely.

This will be coming to every Western Capital, to New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Seattle....., if authorities and the media do not wake up to the fact that communist and anarchist ideas are now deeply rooted in certain sectors of all Western countries.

It is not hard to identify the instigators of this chaos. What is hard, is to find leaders willing to stand up and name and confront these enemies of the free society.

"Responsibility to Protect" - The End of National Sovereignty As We Know It?

Why Did U.S. President Barack Obama order a military attack on Libya? Why did he seek the permission of the United Nations Security Council, but not that of the U.S. Congress - as he is constitutionally obliged to do?

Glenn Beck has explained President Obama's decision to attack Libya in terms of the United Nations' "Responsibility to Protect Doctrine"

Mr Beck is right.

According to Radio Free Europe

Those who justify the Libyan intervention on humanitarian grounds draw much of their logic from a concept which has dramatically gained ground over recent decades. The concept is known as "R2P," shorthand for the world's "Responsibility to Protect" civilians.

But what does this catchy little phrase mean? Where did it come from? What are its implications?

The United Nations reported in July 2009;

The Obama administration is supporting moves to implement an U.N. doctrine calling for collective military action to halt genocide. In a week-long debate on implementing the Responsibility to Protect Doctrine, the U.S. joined a majority of U.N. countries, including Russia and China, in supporting implementation of the policy. The doctrine itself was approved in 2005 by more than 150 states including the U.S.
The doctrine specifies that diplomatic options such as internal conflict resolution, sanctions, and prosecution by the International Criminal Court, should be used first. If they don't work, then a multi-national force approved by the Security Council would be deployed.

In other words, if the United Nations does not approve of a certain government's behavior, and that government's leaders will not respond to sanctions and the threat of prosecution, they will be attackeded militarily.

The U.S. organization supporting this concept, named unsurprisingly Responsibility to Protect is affiliated to a financial planning firm, General Welfare Group LLC, based in Oak Brook Illinois.

According to the Responsibility to Protect website

The doctrine of the responsibility to protect was first elaborated in 2001 by a group of prominent international human rights leaders comprising the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty. Under their mandate, the Commission sought to undertake the two-fold challenge of reconciling the international community's responsibility to address massive violations of humanitarian norms and ensuring respect for the sovereign rights of nation states.

Led by Gareth Evans, former Foreign Minister of Australia, and Mohamed Sahnoun, Special Advisor to the UN Secretary-General, the Commission issued its report in December 2001. Focusing on the "right of humanitarian intervention", this report examined when, if ever, it is appropriate for states for take coercive - and in particular military - action, against another state for the purpose of protecting populations at risk. In essence, the group concluded that when a group (or groups) of people is suffering from egregious acts of violence resulting from internal war, insurgency, repression or state failure, and the state where these crimes are taking place is unable or unwilling to act to prevent or protect its peoples, the international community has a moral duty to intervene to avert or halt these atrocities from occurring.

Gareth Evans, an Australian Fabian Socialist and Mohamed Sahnoun both worked with leftist financier George Soros in the highly influential International Crisis Group.

The "responsibility to protect" doctrine received renewed emphasis in 2004 when the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan created the High-Level Panel on Threats, Challenges, and Change. The Panel was established to "identify major threats facing the international community in the broad field of peace and security and to generate new ideas about policies and institutions aimed at preventing or confronting these challenges".

Panelists included;

Mary Chinery-Hess (Ghana), Vice-Chairman, National Development Planning Commission of Ghana and former Deputy Director-General, International Labour Organization;
Gareth Evans (Australia), President of the International Crisis Group and former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia;
Amre Moussa (Egypt), Secretary-General of the League of Arab States;
Yevgeny Primakov (Russia), former Prime Minister of the Russian Federation;
Qian Oichen (China), former Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China;
Nafis Sadik (Pakistan), former Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund;
Salim Ahmed Salim (United Republic of Tanzania), former Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity; and
Brent Scowcroft (United States), former Lt. General in the United States Air Force and United States National Security Adviser.

With respect to "Responsibility to Protect", the Panel endorsed this "emerging norm", stating that:

There is a growing recognition that the issue is not the "right to intervene" of any State, but the "responsibility to protect" of every State when it comes to people suffering from avoidable catastrophe mass murder and rape, ethnic cleansing by forcible expulsion and terror, and deliberate starvation and exposure to disease. And there is a growing acceptance that while sovereign Governments have the primary responsibility to protect their own citizens from such catastrophes, when they are unable or unwilling to do so that responsibility should be taken up by the wider international community... ”

We endorse the emerging norm that there is a collective international responsibility to protect, exercisable by the Security Council authorizing military intervention as a last resort, in the event of genocide and other large scale killing, ethnic cleansing or serious violations of international humanitarian law which sovereign Governments have proved powerless or unwilling to prevent."

In September 2005, "Responsibility to Protect" "was once again enlivened", this time with the "full support of the international community". At the 60th session of the U.N. General Assembly gathering, 191 heads of state and government representatives unanimously endorsed a resolution supporting the Responsibility to Protect doctrine. This resolution laid the foundations for a new global moral compact between every State and every population on earth. As adopted, atrocity crimes “ genocide, crimes against humanity (including ethnic cleansing) and war crimes" - were considered a universal concern and therefore were responsibility of the international community.

During the 2005 General Assembly World Summit, world leaders stated:

Each and individual State has the responsibility to protect its populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. This responsibility entails the prevention of such crimes, including their incitement, through appropriate and necessary means. We accept that responsibility and will act in accordance with it. The international community should, as appropriate, encourage and help States to exercise this responsibility and support the United Nations in establishing an early warning capability.

The international community, through the United Nations, also has the responsibility to use appropriate diplomatic, humanitarian and other peaceful means, in accordance with Chapters VI and VIII of the Charter, to help protect populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. In this context, we are prepared to take collective action, in a timely and decisive manner, through the Security Council, in accordance with the Charter, including Chapter VII, on a case-by-case basis and in cooperation with relevant regional organizations as appropriate, should peaceful means be inadequate and national authorities are manifestly failing to protect their populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity.

The support of the U.S. was of course crucial for this radical new approach to international relations. The U.S. under President George Bush would not even sign up to the International Criminal Court, a key component of the proposed new order.

Therefore the U.S. Responsibility to Protect organization re-committed itself to its goals. The mission of Responsibility to Protect is

To convince the American people and its leaders to embrace the norm of the responsibility to protect as a domestic and foreign policy priority.
To convince our political leadership that the US must join the International Criminal Court.
To convince our political leadership to empower the UN and the ICC with a legitimate and effective deterrent and enforcement mechanism - an International Marshals Service - a standing international police force to arrest atrocity crimes indictees.

Responsibility to Protect knew they would get nowhere under Bush, but viewed the 2008 elections as an opportunity for change.

The upcoming 2008 presidential election and the general debate that will precede provide an opportunity to bring this new norm in the public and leaders’ discourse over America’s domestic and foreign policy, and to get our nation to take the necessary bold steps that are called for to implement this bold principle.

Clearly, the Obama Administration has proven far more sympathetic to Responsibility to Protect's agenda than was that of President Bush.

While few seem to realize the significance of the new doctrine, Responsibility to Protect convenor Richard H. Cooper fully understands its transformational potential.

Yet as I write, a quiet revolution is under way. In September 2005, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a declaration - the World Summit Outcome - whereby each and every State in the world accepted its responsibility to protect populations from genocide, crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing and war crimes. The declaration also emphasizes that if a State relinquishes its responsibility to protect – whether by will or lack of capacity - this responsibility must be borne by the international community that can decide to intervene as a last resort. In the face of mass atrocities, every nation and thus every people on earth have pledged to be our brothers’ keepers. Without fanfare and with little notice, the obsolete principles underlying the Westphalian ordering of world affairs have been dramatically rewritten. We can no longer hide behind State sovereignty, a 400-years old shield, to excuse the shameful reflex and ongoing practice of remaining passive in the face of the most outrageous behaviors...

"We can no longer hide behind state sovereignty."

Let that sink in reader. That is what this is all about.

"Responsibility to Protect" means the end of national sovereignty. It mandates the surrender of any nation state's legal authority over their own citizenry and armed forces to a supra-national body, with the power to sanction or destroy any deemed "rogue" nation - does Israel spring to mind?

"Responsibility to Protect" - three little words, that should strike terror into the heart of every patriot in every free nation of the world.

The Council has spoken, the votes have been cast and the results are in for this week, carved eternally in the records of cyberspace.

This week, a number of Council members saw fit to weigh in on President Obama’s blithely taking us into a war based on a UN resolution without even consulting Congress. This week’s winner, The Razor, took a jaundiced, but quite accurate look at the end results of our interventions in the Muslim world in his fine piece, Unforeseen Consequences of American Foreign Policy:

Libya is yet another intervention in a long series that have fostered unforeseen and unintended consequences for American policy.

Muslims never allow any good deed to go unpunished. In 1982 President Reagan orders the Marines into Lebanon in order to protect the Palestinians from the advancing Israelis. Hezballah showed its gratitude by detonating two suicide truck bombs that killed 241 American Marines and 58 French soldiers. Beginning with the Carter administration the US backed the Mujahadin against the Soviets in Afghanistan, thereby educating and arming an entire generation of Muslims who went on to attack American and Western interests throughout the 1990s and 2000s – including Osama Bin Laden. In 1991 we stopped Saddam Hussein from invading Saudi Arabia. The Saudis rewarded our protection by financing al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups bent on the destruction of western civilization.

We feed starving Somalis and rescue Pakistani peacekeepers, and the bodies of our soldiers get dragged through the streets of Mogadishu (and Bin Laden learns from our failure). We protect Bosnians and Kosavar Albanians (Muslims) from slaughter at the hands of Russian-backed Serbs, and one shoots and kills two unarmed soldiers in gratitude. American individuals and corporations donated $1.5 billion to the relief effort after the 2004 earthquake and tsunami devastated parts of Indonesia. That hasn’t stopped Indonesians from protesting against the United States and supporting the Taliban and al-Qaeda with cash and recruits. And when we get airliners slammed into the Twin Towers there are celebrations throughout the Muslim world (including by the precious pets of liberals, the Palestinians).

Had we not supported the Mujahadin, would Afghanistan be better off today? Would the United States? It’s hard to imagine not. The Soviets had the Mujahadin on the ropes, but success there would not have prevented the empire’s collapse a few years later.

241 Marines would be alive today if we had simply allowed the Israelis to clean the PLO out of Lebanon. It’s quiet possible that the Lebanese and even the Palestinians themselves would have benefited by a PLO that had been wiped out. Perhaps a new organization would have formed to represent them, one less corrupt and steeped in 1960s socialism.

Communists Re-emerge as Major Players in Egypt

On March 15, the Communist Party of Egypt announced that after many years underground because of repression, it will be assuming open, public political activities once more.

The announcement came after "an extensive meeting with all of its bodies" and was unanimous.

The original Communist Party of Egypt, the Hizb al Shuvuci al-Misri had been founded in 1922, when Egypt was still a monarchy and very much under the thumb of British imperialism. The last king of Egypt, Farouk, was overthrown by an uprising of young army officers in 1952. Out of that revolution came the 14-year regime of Colonel Gamel Abdel Nasser, a radical nationalist who worked to break Egypt away from subservience to Western capitalist powers. In 1965, the Communist Party of Egypt merged into Nasser's own movement, the Arab Socialist Union.

A number of former Communist Party activists dissented from this merger and formed their own independent journal, Al-Inisar (Victory), starting in 1973, which led to their re-founding the Communist Party in 1975. Under the governments of Anwar Al Sadat and Hosni Mubarak, the re-founded Communist Party of Egypt faced repression and was not allowed to run in elections. However, it did not disappear and did not abandon the struggle for democracy and socialism.

When the demonstrations against the Mubarak regime began earlier this year, the Communist Party of Egypt, working in unity with other left-wing dissident groups, quickly gained public visibility as a key voice in the secular opposition.

Although some of these goals have been achieved, such as the dismissal of Mubarak, obviously others will have to be the focus of intensive struggle, and the situation in Egypt is hardly stable. This is why the Party has decided to reorganize itself as a public political force. The Communist Party of Egypt is involved in various discussions with other democratic parties and organizations about the future of the Egyptian nation.

The U.S. Socialist Workers Party is sending cadre fresh from the battlefields of Madison, Wisconsin, to Cairo, to peddle Marxist literature to the Egyptian masses.

“I just returned from Madison, Wisconsin, this past weekend, meeting and talking to working people involved in the fight there, introducing them to the Militant,” said Dan Fein, a worker at a pharmaceutical plant in New York. “Soon, I’ll be doing the same thing in Cairo.”

Fein is part of a team of socialist workers from the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom who will travel to Egypt to participate in the Tahrir Book Fair, March 31 through April 3. Paul Mailhot, editor of the Militant, is organizing the team, which will sell subscriptions to the paper, as well as books and pamphlets published by Pathfinder Press.

Hosted by American University in Cairo, the fair was “born from the joy of the Tahrir Square revolution,” the organizers explain. More than 100 exhibitors are expected, most from the Middle East and North Africa. Thousands of titles will be on sale in Arabic, English, French, and other languages. Author signings, forums, and other events are planned.

“For those few days,” organizers say, the fair will be “the largest and most diverse bookstore in the Middle East, situated on the corner of this now world-famous square.”

In this clip, presumably from SEIU's 2008 convention, then presidential candidate Barack Obama admits to consulting SEIU International Executive Vice President Eliseo Medina on matters concerning immigration - around 13 seconds in.

That's not surprising, as Eliseo Medina served on Obama's Latino Advisory Council in 2008.

What is concerning however, is that Medina is a long time leader of the U.S.'s largest Marxist organization - Democratic Socialists of America.

More than that, Medina appears to be Democratic Socialists of America's main proponent of their long held "open borders" policy.

According to the SEIU website Medina has played the leading role in uniting rival labor federations Change to Win and the AFL-CIO behind the immigration "reform" movement;

Working to ensure the opportunity to pass comprehensive immigration reform does not slip away, Medina led the effort to unite the unions of the Change to Win federation and AFL-CIO around a comprehensive framework for reform. Serving as a leading voice in Washington, frequently testifying before Congress, Medina has also helped to build a strong, diverse coalition of community and national partners that have intensified the call for reform and cultivated necessary political capitol to hold elected leaders accountable. Medina has also helped strengthen ties between the Roman Catholic Church and the labor movement to work on common concerns such as immigrant worker rights and access to health care.

In a speech to the far left America's Future Now! conference in Washington, DC on June 2, 2009, Eliseo Medina revealed the real reason SEIU, Democratic Socialists of America and Barack Obama all want amnesty for illegal aliens and oppose all moves to increase security on the Mexican border - 8 million new Democratic voters and the chance to create "a governing coalition for the long term".

They all understand that 8 million new Democrats in the Southern States could deny Republicans/conservatives a chance to govern the U.S. for decades - possibly forever.

America has a President who consults a leading Marxist on immigration policy - a Latino who wants to cynically exploit millions of his brothers and sisters, in order to consolidate power for the Democratic Party/Democratic Socialists of America alliance.

Is U.S. immigration policy being determined by American voters, or by a tiny clique of diehard Marxists working in collaboration with their long time comrade Barack Obama?

Addressing the United Auto Workers 2011 special bargaining convention in Detroit this last Tuesday, union President Bob King, a long time Democratic Socialists of America sympathizer, issued a strong call to re-elect Barack Obama in 2012.

The UAW's special convention, held every four years, sets the overall agenda for the union's work for coming period.

According to the Peoples World

Looking ahead to the 2012 elections, the UAW head spoke of the importance of re-electing President Obama. He lauded the president for what he described as Obama's almost single-handed role in saving the auto industry and the union. Addressing criticisms of Obama for not doing enough, King said, "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. We have never had a president as friendly toward labor."

According to the Peoples World, a group of congressional Democrats, By independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, are pushing legislation that would increase taxes on millionaires.

The authors of the Senate and House bills, Sen. Sanders and Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., both long time affiliates of Democratic Socialists of America, argue raising taxes on the rich is necessary to curtail the deficit and to keep vital social programs from being chopped off. The Senate bill, S 552, was introduced March 16 and the House bill, HR 1124, March 10.

"The fact is, Republicans don't want to do anything to take away tax breaks from the richest Americans, and we want to stimulate that debate," says Rep. Schakowsky .

"Do we establish an emergency deficit reduction tax on millionaires and billionaires," Sanders' legislation asks rhetorically, "or do we deny over 200,000 little children the opportunity to enroll in Head Start by cutting this program by $1.1 billion?"

"We didn't want to get into too much nuance about, well, should it be 250, 300, 275," said Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and a bill co-sponsor. "I think setting the cap where it is - millionaires - sets a starker option."

Sanders and Schakowsky say their millionaires tax proposals would raise as much as $50 billion and roughly $79 billion respectively, as well as narrow the huge and growing income inequality between the working class and the corporate rich.

Meanwhile, nearly 30 year Democratic Socialists of America affiliate President Barack Obama has called again for increasing taxes on those earning more than $250,000 in the White House's fiscal 2012 budget request earlier this year.

A union activist emailed me a few days ago to challenge my coverage of the Madison Wisconsin labor protests.

The anonymous comrade admitted that there might have been a few socialists in evidence, but there were definitely no communists.

Well here's a photo from today's Peoples World that tells a different story.

On the far left is Mark Froemke, a member of the Communist Party USA National Board and a big player in North Dakota and Minnesota labor circles and Democratic Party/Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party politics.

Next to him is Scott Marshall, Chicago based Communist Party USA Labor Commission chair - the party's top labor union organizer of organizers.

All five comrades in the picture come from Steelworkers Organization of Active retirees, an old Communist Party front group.

Just all drove to up to Madison to be sociable, no doubt.

The Blaze has posted an amazing audio of an address by former SEIU senior official Stephen Lerner at last weekend's Left Forum at Pace University in New York City.

Lerner lays out a detailed plan to create economic chaos in America by attacking key banks.

Listen as co-panelist Abby Scher invokes the infamous Cloward-Piven Strategy, developed in the 1960s to bring socialism to America by deliberately overloading and crashing state welfare systems.

Stephen Lerner is serious. He really wants to bring American capitalism crashing down.

Democratic Socialists of America, the U.S.'s largest Marxist organization have their fingerprints all over this scheme.

D.S.A. organizes Left Forum - which used to be called the Socialist Scholars Conference. That's right, the same socialist conferences that D.S.A.'s old comrade Barack Obama used to attend while he was studying at Columbia University in the early 1980s.

SEIU, which employed Lerner for many years is completely dominated by D.S.A.

Cloward-Piven Strategy formulator Frances Fox Piven is a prominent D.S.A. member as was her late husband and co-conspirator Richard Cloward.

The particular panel Stephen Lerner addressed was entitled Building Solidarity through Community Power: Community-Labor Coalitions.

Other panelists included;

Abby Scher, Brooklyn College/CUNY- an activist with Political Research Associates "researching the right for progressive changemakers", which was founded by D.S.A. member Jean Hardisty.

Frances Fox Piven spoke at left Forum 2011 as well. Her panel was entitled Excluded Workers: Building a Labor Movement for the Twenty-First Century.

When are the Republicans going to convene Congressional hearings into Democratic Socialists of America, Left Forum and the rest of the Marxist left? I'll happily testify, as would many of my fellow researchers. Wasn't the recent D.S.A. organized chaos in Wisconsin enough to to get the G.O.P. hierarchy up off its collective fat lazy ass?

Kia Ora Gaza, sounds friendly, and has a very cutesy logo. The name conveys a Maori greeting to the people of the "besieged" Gaza Strip, sandwiched as it is, in the buffer zone between Israel and Egypt.

In fact Kia Ora Gaza, is a militantly anti Israel group, and is the New Zealand wing of the infamous George Galloway's Viva Palestine.

Galloway a former British Labour Member of Parliament has enjoyed a long, if sometimes fractious relationship with the also militantly anti Israel British Socialist Workers Party.

It is therefore no surprize to learn that Kia Ora Gaza is controlled by New Zealand's Socialist Worker, a sister party of the British S.W.P.

Grant Morgan

Kia Ora Gaza founder is Grant Morgan, once leader of the Stalinist, pro-Albanian Communist Party of New Zealand, now a leading light in Socialist Worker.

The organization's webmaster is Whangarei artist and Socialist Worker national chairman Vaughn Gunson.

In October 2010, a six-person Kia Ora Gaza team was part of the huge Gaza aid convoy that successfully broke Israel’s blockade to deliver "desperately-needed medical supplies along with a message of international solidarity"

“Our Kiwi volunteers are authentic heroes who put their bodies on the line to help people in need on the other side of the world,” said Grant Morgan, co-organiser of Kia Ora Gaza.

Webb-Pullman also has strong links to Mexico's Zapatista rebels and also to 17 pro-Zapatista New Zealand activists who were arrested in October 2007 for allegedly participating in quazi-military training camps in the Urewera Mountains. In Gaza Webb-Pullman, while at a reception hosted by terrorist organization Hamas, had a brief meeting with with Gaza President Ismail Haniya and Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahar.
Pat O'Dea is an Auckland based Socialist Worker activist and former Communist Party of New Zealand member. He is from an Irish Republican supporting family.
Hone Fowler is a youth worker and Roger Fowler's son.
Mousa Taher is a Wellington born convert to Islam who speaks Arabic. He is active in the Marxist led Wellington Palestine Group.
Chris van Ryn is an "award-winning travel writer and photographer with wide experience in business and human rights campaigns."

Kia Ora Gaza is a small cog in a big anti Israel machine. But New Zealand socialists, like Kiwis in general tend to punch above their weight.

Military Intelligence is collecting information about left-wing organizations abroad that the army sees as aiming to delegitimize Israel, according to senior Israeli officials and Israel Defense Forces officers.

The sources said MI's research division created a department several months ago that is dedicated to monitoring left-wing groups and will work closely with government ministries. In recent weeks, the head of the new unit has been taking part in discussions in the Prime Minister's Office about how to prepare for the possible arrival of a Gaza-bound flotilla in May.

"The enemy changes, as does the nature of the struggle, and we have to boost activity in this sphere," an MI official said. "Work on this topic proceeds on the basis of a clear distinction between legitimate criticism of the State of Israel on the one hand, and efforts to harm it and undermine its right to exist on the other."

The new MI unit will monitor Western groups involved in boycotting Israel, divesting from it or imposing sanctions on it. The unit will also collect information about groups that attempt to bring war crime or other charges against high-ranking Israeli officials, and examine possible links between such organizations and terror groups.

MI decided to create the unit in the wake of investigations of Israel's deadly takeover in May 2010 of a maritime convoy aimed at breaking the Gaza blockade, which found that the country's intelligence agencies failed to provide information that could have helped Israel adequately prepare for the violent resistance that naval commandos encountered aboard the Mavi Marmara.

The quality of intelligence information about groups aimed at delegitimizing Israel has improved and the quantity has increased in recent months, said an official in the Prime Minister's Office.

"There is a demand for such information," he said. "Officials need information on such topics, and it hasn't always been available in the past, because there was a lack of awareness pertaining to this topic in the intelligence community. The new unit's orientation will be to collect information and carry out intelligence research for the Foreign Ministry and other government ministries.

The unit has the support of Brig. Gen. (res. ) Yossi Kuperwasser, the director general of the Strategic Affairs Ministry and a previous head of MI's research division. During the second intifada, he pushed for the intelligence community's large-scale involvement in public advocacy and diplomatic matters, a stance that was criticized by other MI officers.

There has been a more than 10 year campaign to discredit Israel. This is nothing new.

Post 'Quake Scenes From Central Christchurch

A month after the February 22 earthquake which devastated parts of Christchurch, the central city remains a "no-go zone."

Most Christchurch people who were outside the central city when the earthquake struck have only seen snippets of the damage on the TV news.

This is a just released official Civil Defence video of inner Christchurch. A huge percentage of the city is either flattened or will have to demolished. Nobody has any idea of the damage to the sewer systems yet.

While our "shake" was tiny compared to that which hit Japan, nature has definitely delivered a "king hit" to our beautiful town.

Beijing Butcher's Blood Money Backdown

Chinese officials are quietly backing down from their demand for extra compensation for the families of student nationals killed in the Christchurch earthquake.

A Chinese Embassy official in Wellington called for the extra compensation saying as a result of China's one-child per family policy, parents of the dead had lost their guarantees of care and serenity in retirement.

But the move rebounded when Chinese activists here began pointing out the Chinese Government's failure to adequately compensate parents for the deaths of 10,000 students in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake and parents of babies who died in the Sanlu melamine dairy scandal.

The head of the Chinese Embassy's disaster relief centre, Cheng Lei, started the week saying China's situation was unusual due to the fact that by law families there could only have one child per family.

"There is a very notable difference in terms of the family situation between the Chinese family members and other foreign family members," he said.

Ambassador Xu Jiangguo backed him up saying they had "indications" that the Chinese families wanted more money.

By Friday the embassy was not responding to requests for comment and an influential - and sanctioned - Shanghai blogsite claimed the embassy was simply expressing family opinion, not official Beijing policy.

An estimated 80,000 people were killed in the magnitude 8 Sichuan earthquake, with up to 10,000 of them children who died when badly built school buildings collapsed.

Parents - many with only one child who had died - received Chinese Government compensation the equivalent of NZ$417, as long as they pledged to "obey the law and maintain social order."

Last June 60 parents were arrested for delivering a petition to the local government seeking compensation.

In Fuxin, some parents launched a lawsuit demanding the equivalent of NZ$26,000.

The Sichuan state government then offered payment the equivalent of NZ$12,200 in cash and several thousand more dollars in post-retirement pensions payments if they agreed to drop the issue .

Obama-Linked Socialists Encourage Spread of Militant Protests

Two Obama-linked socialists are planning a national "Teach-in" to help intensify and spread protests against state budget cuts and austerity measures.

Frances Fox Piven and Cornel West, both leaders of the U.S.'s largest Marxist organization, Democratic Socialists of America, are planning to link up with activists across the U.S. on April 5 to encourage further militant actions.

According to socialist website In these Times,

The pro-public union protests in Wisconsin over the past month have marked a major turning point in the American political debate over an elite-backed austerity agenda, declares Frances Fox Piven, perhaps America's foremost authority on social protest movements.

"We are on the cusp of a great movement to resist and roll back that corporate domination by banks, energy companies and war profiteers," Piven and fellow activist/academic Professor Cornell West write in The Nation. They believe that the Wisconsin model of resistance against the elite agenda of endless cutbacks for working people, undertaken in the name of balancing the budget, must be spread across the nation. To help that happen, Piven and West are promoting a national teach-in April 5 on fighting the austerity agenda that will be conducted on dozens of campuses.

Fox Piven and her late husband and D.S.A. comrade Richard Cloward, were the originators of the infamous "Cloward - Piven Strategy" - a policy of deliberately overloading state welfare systems to the point of bankruptcy. It appears that now Piven wants to push states underwater by blocking their ability to resist exorbitant labor union demands. The main culprit is of course the government workers union, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees which is controlled by Piven and West's Democratic Socialists of America comrades.

Fox Piven has been an endorser of both Feminists for Peace and Barack Obama, and Progressives for Obama. In the mid 1990s Fox Piven and Cornel West were both leading members of the New Party, a joint D.S.A./SEIU/ACORN/Institute for Policy Studies project designed to move the Democratic Party to the far left.

Barack Obama was a leading activist with the Chicago New Party from approximately 1993 to 1996.

West, a one time leader of D.S.A.'s race-baiting African American Commission has more direct ties to Barack Obama. In 2008 West was a member, along with radical Harvard law professor and Obama mentor Charles Ogletree, of the Barack Obama's Black Advisory Council.

West was also a supporter of Progressives for Obama and served on the board of PFO's parent organization, Movement for a Democratic Society, - where he worked with long time Obama associates, the former Weather Underground terrorist leaders Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

On Dec. 22, 2010, Frances Fox Piven wrote an article for The Nation entitled "Mobilizing the Jobless".

""Before people can mobilize for collective action, they have to develop a proud and angry identity and a set of claims that go with that identity. They have to go from being hurt and ashamed to being angry and indignant...

Local protests have to accumulate and spread -- and become more disruptive -- to create serious pressures on national politicians. An effective movement of the unemployed will have to look something like the strikes and riots that have spread across Greece in response to the austerity measures forced on the Greek government by the European Union, or like the student protests that recently spread with lightning speed across England in response to the prospect of greatly increased school fees.

Protests by the unemployed led by young workers and by students, who face a future of joblessness, just might become large enough and disruptive enough to have an impact in Washington...We should hope for another American social movement from the bottom -- and then join it."

Piven and West are applying the "pressure from below", needed to complement Obama's "pressure from above."

Obama is using taxes, regulation and debt to destroy the U.S. middle class.

Frances Fox Piven, Cornel West and their D.S.A. and Communist Party USA comrades are using welfare beneficiaries, students and labor unions to ratchet up the pressure.

Make no mistake - Frances Fox Piven, Cornel West, Democratic Socialists of America and their nearly 30 year comrade Barack Obama are waging an undeclared war on Middle America.

As more than one member remarked, picking whom to vote for this week was extremely difficult because the entries, both Council and non-Council were really just tha good. And to top it all off, yours truly was faced with an internet outage that took me offline for a while and delayed this weeks results. But the votes have been cast, and the results are in for this week, carved eternally in the records of cyberspace.

In view of the high quality of the Council nominees, I’m very moved to see that this week’s winner was Horror Returns; Sleeping Israeli Family Murdered by Arabs, Including An Infant over at Joshuapundit. I frankly didn’t expect to win this week. Here’s an excerpt:

Paramedic Kabaha Muayua was among the first responders at the site and described the horrific scene he encountered.

“We could not help the first four stab victims. Following an inspection of the scene I spotted an infant of about three who still had a pulse. We engaged in lengthy resuscitation efforts but had to pronounce him dead,” he said. “The murder scene was shocking. Kids’ toys right next to pools of blood.”

I thought about this for a long time, but I decided to post these photos, even though they’re quite graphic. They were released with the permission of the family, who had the courage to allow this so that so you can see exactly what was done to the Fogels and what sort of enemies we are up against.They could be your family. {….}

‘Palestinian’ unelected Prime Minister Selim Fayyad said “…we categorically oppose violence and terror, regardless of the identity of the victims or the perpetrators.”

That, of course, was his way of equating the IDF with the murderers of the Fogel family.

And the White House essentially said almost the same thing: “There is no possible justification for the killing of parents and children in their home. We call on the Palestinian Authority to unequivocally condemn this terrorist attack.”

Needless to say, when the ‘Palestinians’ give honorary citizenship to child murderers and make them national heroes, ‘condemnation’ is pretty meaningless, especially in English.

You might also recall that the last the time ‘Palestinian Authority’ arrested terrorist murders, they freed them after keeping them in ‘jail’ for four months.

Netanyahu is going to have to make a decision. What comes first, protecting the people and the land of Israel or shuffling to President Obama’s fiddle? I appreciate his position, but the time for dancing on cracks is over. And if he continues to do it, the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria are going to take matters into their own hands, that I guarantee you.

We had a close match this week between two must read entries in our non-Council category. One was Mark Steyn’s Dead Jews Is No News, which concerned the media treatment of the murder of the Fogel family and the other was Sultan Knish’s An Open Letter To Harvey Weinstein, submitted by Right Truth.

Steyn’s piece was masterful, as always, but Sultan Knish’s was so good, so poignant, that I actually sent him an e-mail telling him I wished I’d written it. And needless to say, it got my vote this week.

In ‘honor’ of the murder of the Fogels, the UN is showing a movie in its grand auditorium for the first time ever, a vicious piece of anti-Israel propaganda made by Harvey Weinstein based on the writings of his ‘Palestinian’ girl friend. Sultan Knish wrote an open letter to him about it, and I urge you to read it.

Heather A. Higginbottom, the Obama administration's nominee for Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget, faced a tough interrogation yesterday from Ranking committee member and Alabama senator Jeff Sessions during a hearing with the Senate Budget committee.

The photo above shows Heather Higginbottom, while serving as a legislative assistant to Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, addressing an October 30, 2001, Boston Democratic Socialists of America organized forum "Welfare, Children and Families: The Impact of Welfare Reform", with William Julius Wilson, Dottie Stevens, Jack Clark and Bob Haynes.

William Julius Wilson and Jack Clark were confirmed D.S.A. Marxists. Bob Haynes is a long time Boston D.S.A. affiliate - at least.

Incidentally William Julian Wilson spoke at another D.S.A. forum, on February 25 1996, in Ida Noyes Hall at the University of Chicago.

Entitled "Employment and Survival in Urban America", the meeting was sponsored by the University of Chicago D.S.A. Youth Section, Chicago D.S.A. and the University Democrats.

The panelists were all known socialist affiliates: Toni Preckwinkle, Alderman of Chicago's 4th Ward, Barack Obama, candidate for the 13th Illinois Senate District, Professor William Julius Wilson, Center for the Study of Urban Inequality at the University of Chicago, Professor Michael Dawson, University of Chicago, and Professor Joseph Schwartz, Temple University and a member of D.S.A.'s National Political Committee.

Speaking at one D.S.A. sponsored event does not necessarily make a person a Marxist, but it should be enough to raise questions about one's suitability for a very high level government position.

Despite its relatively innocuous name, Democratic Socialists of America is a radical Marxist organization that believes, according to Democratic Left, Spring 2007, page 9

Our goal as socialists is to abolish private ownership of the means of production.

DSAers work closely with the Communist Party USA and the pro North Korean/Cuban Workers World Party. One former D.S.A. leader, Kurt Stand is still serving seventeen and a half years in jail, for spying for the former German Democratic Republic and the Soviet Union.

Should Heather Higginbottom be asked to explain her Democratic Socialists of America connection?

Was addressing this D.S.A. forum a one off youthful indiscretion, or part of a longer term socialist commitment?

American taxpayers deserve to know the answer. I hope Senator Sessions will oblige them.

U.S. Backing for World Currency?

US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner shocked global markets by revealing that Washington is "quite open" to Chinese proposals for the gradual development of a global reserve currency run by the International Monetary Fund.

The dollar plunged instantly against the euro, yen, and sterling as the comments flashed across trading screens. David Bloom, currency chief at HSBC, said the apparent policy shift amounts to an earthquake in geo-finance.

"The mere fact that the US Treasury Secretary is even entertaining thoughts that the dollar may cease being the anchor of the global monetary system has caused consternation," he said.

Mr Geithner later qualified his remarks, insisting that the dollar would remain the "world's dominant reserve currency ... for a long period of time" but the seeds of doubt have been sown.

The markets appear baffled by the confused statements emanating from Washington. President Barack Obama told a new conference hours earlier that there was no threat to the reserve status of the dollar.

"I don't believe that there is a need for a global currency. The reason the dollar is strong right now is because investors consider the United States the strongest economy in the world with the most stable political system in the world," he said.

Phew! Thank goodness for that. Geithner had me worried for a minute.

Communist Party of Egypt Comes Out of the Shadows

Emboldened by a "revolution" that they helped organize, the Egyptian Communist Party is coming partially out of the shadows.

The Egyptian Communist Party held a comprehensive meeting that included all its different entities and subcategories. The meeting resulted in a unanimous decision to officially announce the party’s existence and activities, considering the new and healthy political and social environment that has resulted from the January 25 revolution, and after years of being forced to work in utter secrecy and under much repression.

The party has agreed to continue the communist journey that began in the 1920s, despite the fact that the communist concept has been reproached and widely misused by corrupt anti-proletariat regimes over the past decades.

The Egyptian Communist Party was re-inaugurated in 1975 and is legitimated by the masses – and this is authentic legitimacy. This goes back to its long struggle and strong connection with the working class in Egypt, as well as the social and political aspirations of hardworking Egyptians. It is these same people who – today – aspire for a society built on freedom, justice and honor, alongside freedom from dependency, tyranny and oppression.

Even though the Egyptian Communist Party was forced to work in complete secrecy for many years, its partaking in democratic and frontal achievements since 1975 are simply undeniable. Members and calibers of the party come from all walks of life and have made positive and powerful contributions to the events of our revolution. For more than 9 decades, Egyptian communists have made unprecedented and strong contributions in many fields of culture and community, including literature, politics and unionism. The communist ideology has survived campaign after campaign of aggression by regimes backed up by right-wing extremists across the Arab world supported by imperialist forces, only by working in utter secrecy, with much persistence and through the ample support of the masses.

The Egyptian Communist Party confirmed that it will be holding its 4th genral conference in the near future to determine the ideal plan of action and organizational chart that will guarantee the demands and aims of our revolution during the coming period.

There will be no "democracy" in Egypt. Barring a miracle, there will only be a blend of Marxism-Leninism and radical Islam.
